Skyrim: Imperials or Stormcloaks?

As we all know, in Skyrim there is a civil war between the Imperial Legion and the Stormcloaks.  So, who to you support and why?

I personally think both sides have valid points but I side with the Imperial Legion and Empire because life in Skyrim would be a lot harder on the common people than it already is.  The Stormcloaks do have some rational.  They are revolting because they have lost the right to worship one of their gods as a result of the treaty that ended the Great War.  And,  I do feel sorry for them because they are being manipulated by the Thalmor, who they hate with an unbridled passion, and don't even realize it.  I'm not saying that they are stupid.  Religious belief tends to blind one's ability to reason especially when that belief is challenged or forbidden and that is why the Stormcloaks (especially Ulfric) can't see that they are being manipulated.

Imperial, for no better reason than I followed the Imperial guy out of the town. I didn't even know there was a Stormcloak guy to follow until later.

Hah! Me too...... but I did know that he was around, because he said so. I just didn't know where he was so I just went along with the Imperial guy.

I really don't know...Stormcloacks seem to be too 'racist' and the Imperials seem to be too much disrespecting the Northern traditions. It's a cool dilemma, but it has made me fear my decision.  :P

This is true for me too. Throughout the game Ulfric is saying that he wants a free Skyrim and to bring back the worship of Talos. But what is also mentioned is that Ulfric is really doing all this for himself. He wants the throne of the high King for himself and to chase out or eliminate all those in Skyrim who aren't Nords. Ulfric even admits to this and his faults after you meet him again when you travel to Sovereign-guard. There is also the fact that the Empire is the only thing keeping the Thalmor out of Skyrim which the Stormcloaks conveniently forget. I've only ever sided with the Stormcloaks once and it was a more negative path to take then when I chose to side with the Empire. While the Stormcloak rebellions is justified in some of its arguments it is also a very costly mistake that would easily have the Thalmor wiping the floor with a severely weakened Skyrim.

Stormcloaks. I kill every Thalmor I see either way; so what's the problem? I defend Skyrim's historical way of life, and those who try to manipulate me die horrible deaths. Ain't no damn foreigner tellin' me what's what and what to do!
How not to be a dark lord: the answer to that is a terribly interesting answer that involves an almost Jedi-like adherence to keeping oneself under control and finding ways to be true to yourself in a way that doesn't encourage the worst parts of you to become dangerously exaggerated and instead feeds your better nature. Also, protip: don't fuck with Alchemy or strike up any deals with ancient Japanese Shinigami gods no matter how tempting the deal or how suavely dressed the Shinigami is.

They're both dicks anyway. TBH, I'm a bit tired of these stupid decisions of choosing one asshole over another. There should be more good people, I mean hey, they exist too!

I have that mod too. 'Live a Life' I believe it's called. It gives skyrim far more replay value then doing the whole Helgan intro.

I do this too. But the Empire doesn't seem to care about me killing Thalmor troopers either. I guess they too realise that the White-Gold treaty is crap but they don't outright announce it.

Stormcloaks all the way. Let's face it, the Imperials are jerkwads.
Bloody conquerors that think everyone should follow their standards and customs. Hence every Imperial soldier I find in Skyrim dies. Heh.
