That would be pretty awesome.  The latest Ys style reminds me of a high-res polygonal version of old adventure games like Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma.

-1's on both your posts? Someone's butthurt. Now if you'll excuse me I'm gonna go and fix that.
Probably a lowkey Sumac sympathizer.

That would be pretty awesome.  The latest Ys style reminds me of a high-res polygonal version of old adventure games like Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma.
Pandora's Tower reminds me a lot of the Ys series.

Totally stoked it's coming out in NA(bravo Operation Rainfall!).

I kinda wonder why there aren't more ARPGs similar to these, though. Illusion of Gaia, Alundra, Ys, they are fun as hell when you get really into them. Maybe it's too hard to accomplish on HD, or nobody would fund it, though seeing downloadable original games like this on PSN/Arcade/Wii Channel would be cool. Seeing someone just go balls out and make an original ARPG in that style some really good sprites and backgrounds would suffice.

But yeah, totally agree, it would be MORE than interesting to see a CV in this style. Anything to get REAL platforming back into the series.

Oh man, it would be so great.  It's not too difficult to accomplish, either.
Ys: Oath in Felghana's "Valestein Castle" feels pretty much like a Castlevania game section, as does Terranigma's Sylvain Castle.

Hell, I can probably design some quick stagework with some barebones platforms in my 3D program.

My previous post on this topic:

"With all respect, I'm OK with that.
Either they draw them again, or recycle them, it's OK to me. As long as there's new levels and music in in the style of the GBA and DS CV games, it's OK. That's the game I want.
They still can experiment with gameplay and some other stuff, like they did with OoE, which turned out to be nearly perfect in my opinion."

No offense to anyone, just expressing my own wishes, but anyway -1.
It's strange.
Now I'm tired, eternally walking... forever dying, and never stopping. I feel in sorrow, all I see is white. I’m following a blind way beneath a sad sky.

Back on topic...
Some months ago I played the latest Ys title for PC, and it's awesome, and really difficult. I still didn't finish it.

Castlevania + Ys + Terranigma?!!! Sounds pretty epic. I've been playing Ys 3: The Oath in Felghana lately and I just fell in love with this beautiful game. Still, I can't say which one I like more - original Ys 3 (wanderers from ys) or the remake. Anyway, TOIF is the perfect example of how remakes should be done. Valestein Castle is one of the best locations I ever explored.. Of course, it would be awesome to see something like this in Castlevania series.

Um, is it strange for me to not have any issue with Sumac's personality...?

Maybe I've just seen worse elsewhere, but I never really have a problem with his 'ttude.

Eh, different strokes for different folks. There's nothing weird or off about it if you get along with someone that others seem to be at odds with. I honestly have no personal issues whatsoever with Sumac since, like most people on an internet forum, I know next to nothing about the guy. I just thought his last few comments to people on here were unduly snarky. Nothing more, nothing less. It happens.

Anyway, back on track (sorta). I've NEVER actually played a Y's game...can...can we still be friends, guys? Check yes or no.

Same here, I survived gamefaqs and neogaf is getting there too. Sumac is too reasonable for those places :P but still this forum is somehow held in high standards of connivance. Props for Master Jorge for making it that way.

Everything comes full circle

Other than the fact that he's been known to look down upon those in the community for disliking LoS, snidely labelling them as as "unable to accept change" and unfairly accusing them that if they hate LoS that automatically makes them "IGA-lovers," and pretty much picking apart and hating various aspects of the Castlevania games post-1997 right up until LoS "saved the series from the devil IGA," all the while refusing to listen to anyone that will try to give compelling arguments against him by calling them "illogical fanboys stuck in the past "

It's possible to share these same opinions without being a total jackass about it, which Sumac was, which is why Jorge did what he did. But enough of that; I watched a video of that Ys Oath game everyone's talking about and the gameplay seems perfect for a Castlevania, now I kinda wish MoF was done in this style instead.

Ys Oath in Felghana Gameplay
Valestein Castle in Oath in Felghana.
Look at Adol ripping through enemies like a little buzz-saw.

This somewhat-overhead platformer is a great style that's both pretty-looking (the video doesn't do it justice) and retro, what with the sprite graphics for the enemies and the hero.
The PC version is often on sale and it's totally worth the money.
A side-story Castlevania in this method would be great.  I can see a hero like Nathan Graves doing attacks like those.

EDIT: and here's Tigray Quarry showing some platforming on the steps:

I've seen far worse too, but just because I have, it doesn't make me think any more or less regarding things Sumac has done. Hell, I think CV Dungeon's such a great community because Jorge calls it like he sees it. It keeps the order in check. At least we don't have to worry about these forums devolving into a troll patrol like IMDb or GameFAQs. ;)

Yes there are a lot of other fora where trolls abound.
Plus it is hard to be a mod, so kudos to Jorge.
