I was a bit ill and down a week ago and decided to watch it. I really have nothing to say about it except that the movie is not for those who are faint of heart. Defining it as a horror film is really missing the point, because "scary" is not the right word to describe it. It's playing with your nerves, slowly placing you in the madman's world. Quite a unique experience, if I may say so.

Eraserhead is a 1977 surrealist body horror film written and directed by American filmmaker David Lynch. Shot in black-and-white, Eraserhead is Lynch's first feature-length film, coming after several short works. The film was produced with the assistance of the American Film Institute (AFI) during the director's time studying there. Starring Jack Nance, Charlotte Stewart, Jeanne Bates, Judith Anna Roberts, Laurel Near, and Jack Fisk, it tells the story of Henry Spencer (Nance), who is left to care for his deformed child in a desolate industrial landscape. Throughout the film, Spencer experiences dreams or hallucinations, featuring his child and the Lady in the Radiator (Near).

Calling it a horror film with the description you gave it is definitely wrong, I agree. This type of movie would go under the 'Psychological thriller' category. As you had said it plays with your nerves. Something which a standard horror film doesn't do.

1977. It's not hard to find a link for the film if you look for it. The trailer gives you a nice glimpse of what the movie is about.

Yes, well, it's definitely psychological, but I refuse to call it a thriller. The fact is that I can't say that the movie has an actual plot. I wouldn't say much more because it would ruin the experience. I'll only say that: It's Kafkian. I never read a work by Kafka but I could feel the inspiration of the writer's odd mind.

I love David Lynch. He gave us Twin Peaks, a fantastic series. You should check that out Freddy, Lelygax.

Movie's definitely a horror movie. A very surrealistic one.

It's also probably the most unnerving movie I've ever seen. First time I watched it I sat back in my chair clutching the armrests and never relaxed until I realized it was over. Definitely some major weirdness in that flick.

Twin Peaks is uuuhhhhmaaaaaayzeeeeeeennngggg.

I just wish the filler episodes from season two didn't exist. It just kinda chugs along when James is "finding himself" until the final arc finally takes form, so there's like two or three episodes that just...get more and more difficult and boring to watch every time I rewatch the series.

And that's a lot of boredom considering the episodes are 45 minutes each.
