I'm usually against "HD Remakes" but that looks pretty sweet. Maybe I'll get it one of these days if Capcom gets their act together and stops ripping off their customers.

Lol'd at the comments section though, with the older ladies and fellows blasting the kids who just don't get it. "These were REAL games." Makes me envision us as older people a little shy of a hundred years ago arguing for the artistic purity of Silent Film over these new-fangled talkies.

And so goes the charm the original had with the pixelated Scrooge sprite, and the chiptunes the NES was able to pump out.

If I wanted to see something that looks like a cartoon.... I'll watch an episode of Duck Tales. :P

I'm already satisfied I have both Duck Tales games on NES and GB.

It would be nice if they included a "Classic Mode" which reproduces the original game's graphics and music that you can switch on and off like Lucas Arts did with the Monkey Island HD Remakes.

And while normally I'd agree that making it look more like a cartoon ruins the artistic intent of the original creators, it's clear that the intent they had was to make it look as much like the cartoon as possible. So I see this just as an extension of that. And worst comes to worst, the original game will still exist and still be played by those who fondly remember it. This will just be a more accessible version for younger audiences.

Just saw gameplay footage over at Capcom's stream and it looks sweet (unfortunately the stream was laggy as all hell)

Oh and Jake Kaufman is delivering on the music department from what I was able to hear, no worries on that part.

And some info
Quote
Relive the classic TV series from the 1980’s – Follow the adventures of Scrooge McDuck and his three nephews; Huey,
Dewey and Louie, as they fend off enemies including the Beagle Boys and Magica DeSpell, on their quest to obtain the five most impressive treasures from across the world

• Redefined hand -drawn visuals – Developer WayForward have taken all the original visuals from the 8-bit game and significantly enhanced and recreated them as hand-drawn sprites, across a backdrop of beautifully re-envisioned level background

• Authentic Disney experience – Some of your favorite Disney characters are brought to life by many of the original voice-over talent from the classic DuckTales TV series and stage backgrounds take their inspiration from the classic TV episodes.

• Learn to pogo – In an all new tutorial level, learn the basic playing skills, including Scrooge McDuck’s iconic pogo jump and cane swing

• Visit the museum – Track your achievements, progress and status on the leader boards in Scrooge McDuck’s new Museum

• Cash in your coins at Scrooge McDuck’s Money Bin – A new playable area, Scrooge’s Money Bin allows players to track the amount of wealth accumulated and even take a swim through his latest spoils

• Digitally enhanced soundtrack – Built from the original versions, the soundtrack for DuckTales Remastered creates more modern amplified iterations of the classic melodies

Everyone has his opinion and i respect it, but there is no need to downvoted someone else, because he likes something that you don't or the oposite.

Which reminds me I need to play that sometime, I bought it for a reason, had an entire week off, now this news reminds me that I have both games on NES and Gameboy.

To think I wrote the original off years ago as kiddie crap, but when I finally got the chance to sit down with the original by myself, I enjoyed it.

DuckTales was one of my favorite games when I was a child, playing it on my nes was fucking awesome & I even play it on my nes from time to time till this day.

So, this will be a day 1 purchase. Once again WayForward proves that they are passionate game developers.

I have still yet to play DuckTales 2 though, and it's hella expensive on ebay these days (well, expensive for an NES game). Bloodreign will you sell me your copy? o.o;
