I agree that the dark aspect of the image should be more darker but maybe it was done this way on purpose so as to make a much smoother transition. As for Link's tunic, it does get kinda old seeing him wear the exact same thing every game with very little to absolutely no variation in style. But he does have chain mail underneath that tunic so it is classified as armor. In terms of Zelda have a huge set on knockers, the nature of the image itself can't show them due to her arms blocking the view. Veran on the other hand from Oracle of Ages had a lovely pair all to herself.

I doubt that Nintendo would let a western company that they don't own work on a Zelda game.
I doubt Nintendo would let KONAMI work on a Zelda game. Remember, Cox is an employee of Konami, not Mercury Steam(even though Mercury Steam is his preferred "muse"). That would basically be three companies coming together to make one game(Nintendo, Konami and Mercury Steam). Just don't see that happening.

It would be Link from a "Legend of Zelda 2" sequel xD
I've seen some old Link artworks before made by fans, but I dont remembered it until now.

It's too colorful. Needs more browns and grays.

Link also needs more armor, not that sissy tunic stuff.

Also, Zelda needs massive tits.

Just throw in the name "Christopher Nolan" somewhere in there and I'm sure any company jump all over that shit!

While that image of old Link does look cool on many levels I have serious doubts that it would work well for a sequel to Zelda 2: Adventures of Link. Mainly the issues lay with the stylization of his outfit, weapon and shield. They are not of the Zelda 2 era or design motif. Both Zelda's 1 & 2 has a very distinct look to them and that's real world medieval coupled with Greco-Roman architecture that has almost no resemblance to the newer Zelda games' Fantasy-fairytale look. Even the Zelda 2 grave stones scream 'Christianity' as does his shield in Zelda 1.

They let Capcom work on four handhelds OOA/OOS , the port of ALTTP, and MC IIRC so why not konami my guess is because their lackluster.

1. Flagship: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flagship_(company) developed those games, they were funded by capcom and Nintendo, and Miyamoto had a hand in developing those titles as well.

6. There was going to be 6 GBC zelda games (4 oracle games, and remakes of the NES zeldas).  However, they were either scrapped because of time constraints (NES remakes) glitches (the 4th game) or simplifying how the game(s) would connect with each other (3rd game-possibly seeds of courage?)

3. Capcom messed up bad by dissolving flagship, Phantom hourglass and spirit tracks suffered as a result.  >:(
