Another tragedy hits the US.

Homes and businesses that were near the plant were leveled. The area was shut down.

You know disasters like this could be avoided if they'd stop making artificial fertilizers. And also not to build their homes and businesses anywhere near the plant itself.

Wow so poop is explosive? It saddens me that things like this happen in such rapid succession. People in my area (Delaware) are speculating possible connections to the Boston Incident. I don't think anyone could plan to attack such a random point of interest, a couple thousand miles away. There is a slight chance however that I'm gravely mistaken....

Oh yes it can be. The animal poop gives off flammable gasses (One of the gases is known as methane) which would be stored inside compression tanks. One little mistake with a spark or fire and the result is an explosion.

Makes sense. I bet the heat had those gases at unbelievable levels before it blew!

Hell, just get your hands on a copy of The Anarchist's Cookbook. You can do lots of things with fertilizer. Can't remember if it was nitroglycerin or thermite, but one of the entries almost made me go digging through the garage for a bag of fertilizer to test out.

It should be forbidden by law to build houses near these kind of plants and vice-versa.

That would be crippling to urban growth. A fertilizer plant exploding like that is a freak accident. If anything, there should be laws against building homes and businesses in flood zones, hurricane zones, or tornado alleys. Insurance rates are ridiculous because of the people who keep building homes that get wiped out by a natural disaster every few years and then cry that they lost everything and wonder how it could have happened to them.

So what? You think people can predict where the tornados, hurricanes or either flood can happen?
Man, they could be anywhere, i don't think changing places would work that much.. Besides, i don't even think people got money enough to buy/build new houses away from those kinds of places..
Some are even depending on supplies...
