If they're gonna reboot Castlevania properly and the Belmonts will be the protagonists, I think they should make the clan seem more like a family instead of just a string of passing the whip around.

I recall in OoE one of the "older" villager ladies tells Shanoa her memories of vampire-hunting with her grandfather. I think some of the other villagers may have similar stories but it's been a while since I played it so I don't remember them all.

I think my OoE playthrough went to indefinite hold in Dracula's castle, so I might not know the whole story, but..why exactly is there a whole village of Belmont descendants and do they know they're related?

That's right. Maybe Richter was Daniela's father or grand-father.

I don't think they know since two of them hook up.  :-X

I think Daniella is too old to be Richter's granddaugher. Assuming Richter didn't have any children before Rondo of Blood, he would have a child in 1792/1793 at the earliest. And also assuming this child would have a child of his or her own at like 18 or whatever, and taking into account Daniella's age (88 I believe), that means Order of Ecclesia takes place in 1899 or 1900, which is impossible given the game's estimated placement of "sometime in the 1800's".  :-\

Given the fact that the Sorrow games take place like 25 years in the future and technology seems to be advancing very fast, it's possible that if there aren't any Belmont heirs, scientists could always either clone or genetically engineer a new Belmont with heightened characteristics.

Or maybe it's time for the bloodline to die out. Nothing lasts forever after all.

"Project: Belmont Beyond"

or perhaps the Morris' will just take the lead since they're the closest blood ties!

If DoS was indeed the very last chapter of the Dracula-Belmont war, it's fitting they would die with their biggest enemy. Apparently there's always going to be a Dark Lord, but that's not technically what Leon signed them up for.

If they're going to wrap up the continuity some day, I think they need to clarify what happens to the Belmonts. But cloning / genetic engineering to create Belmont successors isn't that far fetched. I mean, obviously the world was aware of Belmont blood, which made them superior vampire hunters.

But that's kind of hazy. I mean, Leon was never implied to be in any way supernatural. Did his descendants gain more power because of the ritual Rinaldo performed or was it all just genes, training, Vampire Killer and all other mystic weapons? Before LoI, at least, they implied their power was due to "warlord chromosomes".

While we're on the subject of family, does anybody else wonder whether Dracula had any kids other than Al?

The fact that the series has never had a Dracula's Daughter character seems to be a missed opportunity to me.

I understand that better than the apparent absence of Belmont siblings. Drac didn't turn Lisa into a vampire, suggesting he doesn't think highly of undeath. After all, he only became one to spite God. Maybe he even expected Al to be human.

And after Lisa died, he completely lost interest in that stuff. And with Al constantly opposing him, it just makes it clearer he's better off not making any more juniors. Aand he doesn't need an heir, because he's really not interested in ruling the world. He just wants it all to go to hell.

Well there's also the fact that he's eternal. When you are immortal, you really don't need offspring. Especially when you are not interested in having a "life" as he tried to have with Lisa.

I mean, Leon was never implied to be in any way supernatural.

Not implied directly but Rinaldo did state that there was something about Leon that made the whip much more powerful then even Rinaldo himself could. The Belmont's mystic blood is as supernatural as you can get with them. In fact I was hearing this kind of talk way back in the 80's as to whether or not the powers of the whip and such came from the Belmont family blood. When LoI was produced Iga had solidified that rumor about the Belmont's mystical blood, but not directly. And he also gave the whip itself it's own form of power which is amplified by the Belmont' mystical blood and their blood alone. Anyone outside of the bloodline cannot use the whip to it's potential. It would be just another medieval weapon of metal.

You know what? I've always wondered if Alucard had any siblings. Considering the near 400 year gap between LoI and CV3, it's entirely possible that Dracula could have knocked up women (human or otherwise). Vampire or not, he is still a man and all men (and women) have certain animal instincts if you know what I mean. He may of loved Llsa, but that doesn't mean he didn't have any lust fueled one night stands with women (some possibly demons).

Hell, if the old canon is continued after the LoS trilogy is finished, there could be a new dark lord who is one of Dracula's long lost children (not Alucard). Just imagine how Alucard reacts when he finds out he has one or more siblings. I would think that it would be similar to Goku's reaction when he met his big brother in the first or second episode of DBZ.

Or, better yet, a war of succession between the siblings over who succeeds their father and becomes the new Dark Lord. That could be interesting. The storyline could be something like:

After nearly a thousand years of hibernation, Dracula's lost children awaken seeking their birthright. Unable to decide who ascends to the throne, the siblings start to try and kill each other. Sensing something dark and dangerous emerging, the Church enlists the strongest forces of Good (Julius Belmont and Yoko Belnades) to investigate the threat and protect humanity for danger.

I could see one of the siblings, aware of Soma, going after him and Alucard having to intervene and getting stuck babysitting again (at least in the beginning).

That gives me an idea for another angle to work with.

Alucard is only half vampire.  There's a decent chance he might actually be the runt of the litter, so to speak, if his other sibblings are full vampire, half vampire and half succubus, half vampire half werewolf or whatever.
