As the title says, are there any videogames or franchises that you wish you could've enjoyed more but couldn't because of certain reasons?
For me, it's the Tales series. Between the easy-to-learn-but-hard-to-master combat system and the deconstructive storylines it's precisely my cup of tea, but the inaccessibility of certain titles along with NamDai's innumerable dick moves causing said inaccessibility among others is making it hard for me to become a big fan.
It is precisely because it never cared, that people do care.  It's something which it's lacking, because that which it has, it has lackluster of.
^^
You are now reading this in Robert Belgrade's voice.

Then Lords of Shadow 2 just takes a big, semi-solid, smelly, pea-green dump all over everything.

It would be weird to wish I would have liked something. I can only think of mandatory subjects in school. When it comes to entertainment, I try not to make it a chore by trying to force myself into liking something.

With that said, Devil May Cry 3 made me think I'm not quite up to game challenges as I was as a wee laddie. I played that game and found it challenging, to say the least. So I quit playing and didn't return to that series.

But in retrospect, I'm kind of indifferent about hack 'n slashes anyway, so it might've been less about my gaming skills and more about simply not liking the gameplay.

the Fallout series, I have all the games (excluding the PS2 one), but I cant really get into them though I did play a healthy amount of Fallout 3
how badly I want to immerse myself in that post apocalypse world but sadly I just couldn't

At first Kingdom Hearts, but I've fixed it years ago. Touhou and Legacy of Kain, its more like a lack of time than disliking them, I've played Soul Reaver until the end for PSX and played a Touhou game in a anime event.

I agree with this. Well, I don't have the very oldest ones, but the newer ones and yeah.. I try my hardest to immerse myself in, but meh.. Nev Vegas has some delicious splatter to keep my interested. I find it very hard to immerse myself into any game (sadly), but some games do it very well. Too bad Bethesda isn't the best developer for that kind of gaming.

Parasite Eve. I was in it for the weird story, the cool visuals, but something about the clunky gameplay really put me off. Perhaps I'd be better playing it now.

I'd like to give the BloodRayne series a go, the trashy exploitation movie premise appeals to me.

You should try Parasite Eve 2, they changed the battle system in turns to one in real time, its like Resident Evil with magic and some giant monsters.

I second VladCT on the Tales series. I'm still not 'done' with it and I actually want to pick up Xillia cause I like how it looks. But I dunno. The battle system in all those games never clicked for me.

Resident Evil is another series I never could get into, except RE4 which I really loved. But the first three, and the last two? I feel nothing playing them. And I got RE1 when it was brand new, so not even nostalgia does it for me. Cause I never cared in the first place. I wish I felt what others felt.

Next up is Advance Wars. I love Fire Emblem but the generic troops in Advance Wars made me not care. I need to care for my troops!

Finally, Smash Bros. I just don't get it.

Honorable mention is the Elder Scrolls games, which I love on paper. But beyond Morrowind (which I actually finished, and loved) I never had fun with the series after that. Oblivion and Skyrim look so sweet but... Again, I just feel...empty.

I wish I played more Zelda games when they were new.
But I follow it now, and slowly, I'm playing the games I have still unplayed.
Now I'm tired, eternally walking... forever dying, and never stopping. I feel in sorrow, all I see is white. I’m following a blind way beneath a sad sky.

Probably any FPS or RPG. I don't get why everyone salivates over the Final Fantasy games. I've played a few of them (Crisis Core is my favorite, and I actually DO Like that one, which probalby says something) and while they were good, I don't get the fanatical love they get.

Resident Evil is another one. I've never really played 4 except for the mobile version, which was good, but still...I don't really get the love for them.

Resident Evil for me too. I only played RE 4 on my Wii.

About FF, try the first 6 games. If the first ones are too old for your tastes, you can play 1 and 2 for PSP, 3 and 4 for NDS, I believe there's a version of 5 for PSP, and play the 6th on the SNES, that's the holy grail of the franchise.
One of the few games I consider worth of 10/10.

I'd say Shin Megami Tensei. I played Strange Journey on the DS and Persona on the PSP. I like the series, it's just too expensive to collect most of the games when you lack an income (and find time to play them).

I suppose the Elder Scrolls, too. I've been a PC gamer for ages but found Morrowind and Oblivion to be completely boring. Skyrim was fun, but mostly on a surface level. The lore is rather too dense for me to want to get into. I've already got fingers in the Ravenloft, Forgotten Realms and Warhammer Fantasy pies.

He's back! The man behind the mask!

There is no 5 for PSP, but instead a 4 with 4 After Years and another bonus, all of them with remastered graphics (still in 2D, but very beautiful 2D).

I would say I wish I could have gotten into Phantasy Star more. It wasn't until later on that I started playing Phantasy Star 1 on Sega Master System and normally I love a challenge. I also loved the concept of the game. However, not exactly sure why but going through the mazes and hitting an enemy every 2 feet in front of me kind of got irritating even with loads of HP.
