Replaying Portrait of Ruin, I just thought of something.

Why doesn't Charlotte turn into a cat as part of her death animation?

I always supposed you don't kill the witches, they just turn into cats for escaping.

Everything comes full circle

Which they do -- you can sometimes kill the cats while they're running away.

But why would this qualify as a plot hole? Charlotte doesn't die in the plot, so her death animation is a tad bit... trivial.
Narrative considerations aside, though, it's actually an interesting idea. It could even have been implemented as some kind of a "last stand" feature before death.

Well, couldn't the same thing be said about Shanoa. She doesn't turn into a cat either when she dies. Besides, just because some witch enemies turn into cats when they die doesn't mean that all female spellcasters have to.

Come to think of it, a Cat Mode would've been nice.

Personal preference though, ultimately. Cats and frogs are equally 'witchy'.

Except that Shanoa isn't a Witch. She's either a Sorceress or 'Glyph' caster. Most likely the latter. They are not the same as witches. This may sound like apples and oranges, but there is a fundamental difference. despite the fact the one of the villagers called her a beautiful Witch I don't think even he knew what type of spell caster she was.
