I recently played Castlevania 2 Belmont's Revenge and had a wtf moment when fighting soleiyu. Both have a whip! I think spleiyu obtained the whip before he was possessed by dracula. So did Christopher go all that way using another whip or........

Did he obtain it before the possession?  Citation needed.

If he did, then you may be on to something.  Otherwise Soleiyu may be using a Training Whip.

Nice fact and point.

I am with the version of Soleiyu having a training whip, ´cause we don´t see Soleiyu fighting with evil creatures.

But is nice how he can use a whip and sacred weapons to fight against his father...

Well, in the intro only says that he will be the next vampire hunter, but I don´t read that he recieves a whip. Also, in the boss fight with him, when he attacks with the whip, he attacks too with three daggers/swords.

I dunno if the Castlevania Wiki is official, but its said in it that is a different whip.

As for CVI, CVIII and CVIV, Simon and Trevor starts whit a leather whip and then when he obtain (according to the CVIII english manual) the mystic whip item, he upgrade to a chain whip, and then to a l...o...n...g... chain whip (ouch!) 8).

Also, I never knew how the whip can upgrade to a powerful one (white whip, similar to the morning star) in CVIII. So, it seems that there is several "names" or titles to the whip.

It's generally conceived as a leather whip in much of the official art. However the official art for SCV4 and Rondo depicts it as what we see in-game at full power; An 8-9 foot long morning star whip. To me the vampirekiller being a leather whip just doesn't work so I never see it as anything but a long morning star whip. As for Soleiyu having the vampirekiller when you face him. No, I don't think so. There was a ceremony or rite of passage, but it says nothing about Christopher giving him the whip. Soleiyu probably had at his disposal either a steel or iron morning star whip that was made to resemble the vampirekiller so that when the time came he would know how to use it without any trouble.

Simon's quest ruins every VK theory as he just replaces his whip. I'd like it if the vk was any whip infused with Beont blood or whatever (that would explain why it kills or can't be used by any non Belmont)

Everything comes full circle

It seems to depend on the Belmont as to which form the whip takes. It is after all, the whip of alchemy, so who is to say is doesn't alter its properties dependant upon the powers/ abilities/ skills of its master. Richter's default VK is the Morning Star, however, In SOTN for example when he uses Item Crush his VK becomes the flame whip.

I very much doubt there are two VK's in the original CV universe, as that defeats the purpose of the whip's memory as featured in POR.

I always thought the different whips in Simon's Quest were upgrades of the same whip and not different whips.

One of those little details that are odd in hindsight after the creation of the IGA canon. Probably nobody questioned the existence of two whips back when the game first came out.

I always thought he was "kidnapped" on the night where he was going to receive the title of vampire killer and get the whip. As for what he wields in the fight, it could be a whip of darkness given to him by Lord Dracula.
