I wonder if they've changed how multiplayer works, given the setting. If they did, maybe that's why they're not calling it a Souls game...

I've always been a bit wary of comparisons between the souls games and Castlevania, but when I saw the trailer my first thought was "Castlevania souls"!

Well, it's more Helsing than Castlevania with the Gothic horror vibe and Victorian setting, which is even better since I love Victorian settings.

I can't believe people are still hyped knowing that the game runs like shit.
Even Knack drops down to 10fps, Sony really needs to have some quality control.

The game is still in development, the devs have acknowledged the frame rate problem and are fixing it.

Not sure to really trust From on fixing anything. Dont exactly have a spotless track record on "fixing".

This is on PS4, so the framerate will be improved. If they didn't show the trailer, people would complain there was only the E3 CG trailer to see at E3 and demand gameplay. people got early stages gameplay build, and they still complain. :D  Ah well, Bloodborne is looking to have one of the best soundtracks  bloodborne gameplay trailer   And the atmosphere is really great.   It's nice they called it something else. Just like Dark Souls carried the torch for Demon's Souls, so can Bloodborne without needing to be under the same brand.   Plus this approach allows more room for creativity instead of dragging along the lore of the other games.  Noticed how Dark Souls benefitted being independent from Demon's Souls, while still providing what fans seek in better ways.   Wonder how the level design will compare with the first Dark Souls.

From doesnt have the best track record with framerate. Demons Souls chugged whenever you rolled into any more than 2 barrels, Dark Souls 1 had Blighttown, which was a terrible framedroppy mess, and had the PC version locked at 30FPS with the same framerate issues without DSfix. Then DS2 had weapon durability tied to framerate, meaning that at 60FPS, weapons broke faster.  not gonna hold my breath on that framerate getting improved. DS2 ran smoothly, but it was also, visually, MUCH simpler than DS1, and it its areas were more linear and small. BloodBorne also seems to follow DS1's trend of using fog to hide the render distance so that it doesnt chug when you get a view of the city

still doesnt mean the final product will be better. Remember Dark Souls 2.

How can you say that from just a trailer?

I agree on that, especially since Miyazaki had said he wanted his vision to reach everyone- if he had turned around and made a PS4 exclusive Dark Souls, he would be a hypocrite. (He still kind of is though.)

that said, considering what we know of BB, it really doesnt seem like it will be that similar to Demons/Dark Souls at all aside from superficial mechanics like fog doors and such. Which is probably better, since it shows From (and Miyazaki) know how to make more than just 1 type of game.

It's looking really great.   The boss with one of the trailer themes is so super.   ;D     The customization could be very impressive.
There's a new trailer but it's basically the TGS trailer.

something that looks like a whip sighted beyond 5:15 during the flaming boss fight

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEv7ZHytVAk

Perhaps there will be a whip worthy of Castlevania style.

looks like Bloodborne's whip is more suited for battle than the DkS whips.  but how common are they?

And then they reveal in the next year that they are doing this game with Konami in secrecy, the real name of this game is Castlevania: Bloodborne and will happen in a new canon. :P    j/k

lol well I would think Bloodborne could hold the Castlevania title much better than anything LoS.

though yes of course Dark Souls/Bloodborne is still outside Castlevania standards, the formula does have a lot of qualities
that Castlevania series should learn from.   Though there are still some mistakes the DkS devs are making, even within their
own standards, that keep their games from really being much better as a whole, though in general they are moving in a
better direction than any 3D Castlevania to date.    So it's understandable some CV fans see DkS/Bloodborne as a spiritual
successor to Castlevania.
