What the heck happened to that Simon's Quest hack?

Awhile ago there was a promising Simon's Quest hack with improved sprites and new music that looked amazing, but I haven't heard anything about it in awhile. I couldn't find any footage of it left but I found the youtube channel of the guy doing the music for it.

I guess it was canned? It looked fantastic, shame if it was.

As far as I know it didn't have a special title or anything, it was just referred to as another hack.

This was the one with the lush new graphics and terrain designs? I was wondering about it a few weeks ago.

Soda as well.

Yep, that's the one. Had new towns too.

as is the fate with most fan made projects, it most likely got "indefinitely put on hold" for a variety of reasons (other priorities, job, personal/technical issues, etc.)

most common answer given when the creator(s) is asked when itll be released?

"itll be released when its done"

Yeah, it got cancelled. I forget the reasons why.

Da f**k??! I was really looking forward to playing it too! Damn... That's a real shame. To me this hack was more then just a hack. It looks like it was built from the ground, up. Virtually everything about it save for the mechanics is near-original. This is really disappointing to hear. Why doesn't the author hand the project over to someone else to finish it up for them?

Optomon was doing the new music and he did actually release what he had been working on.
IIRC he took what was done and used it as a base for his current project, Pyron, which you can see on his YouTube page which was linked to in the first post.

I downloaded that soundtrack and listen to it on occasion. Some really good original tunes in that album too!

Indeed. I created a custom soundtrack using his tunes the original CV2 music and a couple of other covers I found around that are in the CV2 style.

I remember hearing that he had enlisted to some branch of the armed forces. But that was already years ago.

Is there an NSF and/or MP3s available somewhere?
