Can't tell if you're trying to insult me or not. But since I just took a test (which I probably didn't do good on, but I'm glad its out of the way) I'll think of it as the latter.

I can't grow attached to Dynasty Warriors characters... at least not from the game. When I play it, I just play for the running around and slaughtering hundreds of people.

I actually hate games like this.  it's a real problem with just about everything that comes out of Japan....  Everything is ridiculously tragic.  Everyone has such a sad past.  It gets old, and ridiculous.

My vote goes to PONG.

Well, now seriously, The final moments of ICO are pretty emotive, and by saying that I mean FUCKIN TEAR INDUCING. Yeah, I admit I cried with that game.

...but not as much as playing COD

Silent Hill 2. The characters are so damn hopeless. Eddie is a paranoid murderer, James is depressed, repressed and simply losing his mind, Maria is a creature sent to torment an already unstable young man and Angela was raped as a child and probably killed her whole family. I mean..goddamn.

Overall, the game is a brilliant mixture of creeping horror and sadness, but one scene stands out in terms of sadness and that's Angela walking up the stairs.

Vandal Hearts I

Nowadays you are either a graphics whore or a fanboy. BR is Shank not CV. It is ridiculous to think that it is better than CV. If it was CV then it would be what RE4 is to Resi, a series killer. Dumb it down and make it look pretty. Enough idiots will buy it.

AH!!! YOU STOLE MY GAME!!  >:( >:( >:(

*Ignores this post*

Silent Hill 2. The game was truly more sad than frightening.  Angela walking the stairs is truly an annoying scene. There's this part where the movie sequence ends and you get your controls back, and then you see her slowly going up the burning stairs, and you try to run forward and stop her, but you can't. The game doesn't let you.
Though the scene in the game that touched me the most was the one where James sits in the room and watches the tape of his vacation with Sarah. And then he sais: "Sarah didn't die. I killed her." You don't it. You simply don't get it. After all, she died from a disease. All he did was end her suffering. And still, his conscience (Pyramid Head) was torturing him for that. Now that's a strong message here.

Quote from: Rugal
After playing for hours and hours with these characters that you grow attached to, then go read their biographies, it can get a bit sad.

Age of Empires 2. XD
You know, the part in the France campaign where Joan of Arc is executed. It's not sad, it's just annoying. Throughout all of the Campaign you must keep Joan alive to complete the level. And then, before the final level, they go and tell you: "Oh, too bad for you, but this is a historical game. And if you know your history, Joan died in the end."
NOOOO!! But why? She was such a nice character! Only at 18, she liberated France and lead its armies to victory. And you worked so hard for it, too. So how does the game repay you? It burns her alive. Thanks.

My vote goes to the original Ecco the dolphin.

Ecco pretty much goes on a quest to save his family all on his own, fights off legions of evil sea creatures and finally the vortex queen herself. aside from a few words of aide from a couple of pods he saves along the way not even big blue can help him.

this makes it really feel like your alone in an eerie massive empty ocean after he was hyped up to be the most likely candidate to help you out.

it just makes Ecco seem like such a Heroic character who has had nothing but struggle since the vortex captured his family.

Not Sarah.  Mary.

I do agree with you and A-Yty though, Silent Hill 2 is an incredibly emotional game.  And I really hate that line where James says, "I killed Mary."  It's like the game spends all this time building up the foreshadowing and the hints at what really happened, then it goes and makes it all worthless by spelling out exactly what happened in three little words.  Anyway, the depth of the game and the levels on which it toys with your emotions are nearly unrivaled in gaming.

Any game that kicks my ass repeatedly makes me emotional (in a RAARRGH SMASH & SWEAR kind of way).

Example: Ninja Gaiden.

Twin Cobra is filling that niche at the moment.

lol. I don't know why I called her that. Probably confused her with some other character.
