Christopher not one of the greatest five?

This is something that's kinda bothered me since I played Portrait of Ruin a while back.
Why isn't Christopher Belmont considered one of the "greatest five"?
According to PoR's timeline the Adventure games are canon, so it's not like its a canonical issue or anything.
I mean, Christopher's far from a fan favorite by any stretch, but what is it that limits him from being one of the most celebrated and noteworthy members of the Belmont clan?
His accomplishments are defeating Dracula twice, rescuing his son from under control of the dark prince himself, and typical Belmont-y things.

So, why do you think Christopher's not part of the greatest five?

I will agree that he would have fit better than Juste, who if nothing else was out of place graphically. But as for the whole beating Dracula twice thing, he didn't actually succeed the first time, as elaborated in Adventure's ending and Revenge's backstory. Still, he came closer to the feat than any other Belmont besides Simon.

It's especially weird when you consider that up until CV3, Christopher was theBelmont. He sealed Dracula away in the Tower of Colbert and now the Count is back in Simon's time. Simon has big shoes to fill.

That's the impression the old Japanese manuals give, anyway.

Yeah I was questioning this myself. There are two versions of Simon (8-Bit and a custom 16-bit version based on CV 1's box art) but no Christopher.

You don't actually see both Simons in the same attack. The game just randomly decides which one will appear, as it does with Trevor. Unfortunately, they gave Trevor his design from back when he was almost identical to his descendants. It would have been clearer if they used his Curse of Darkness design, or heck, even used the Fake Trevor sprites from Symphony of the Night. I mean, he was already in the Nest of Evil and everything.

Actually, the 16-bit Trevor is Fake Trevor, only recolored brown to match his 8-bit sprite.
It is precisely because it never cared, that people do care.  It's something which it's lacking, because that which it has, it has lackluster of.

They could have used that or his SCV4 sprite. Why go to all the trouble to make only one custom sprite? And to top it off the sprite looks a little odd in the pose.

^Hahahahaha!!

I agree that it should have been Christopher and not Juste who doesn't even really fight Dracula at all.

Would make a good little hack, though.

Castlevania 4 isn't really part of the style. Chronicles and Symphony use the same sprites for the toad enemy, but none of the graphics in CV4 reappear in anything else. The sprites for Slogra and Gaibon are similar, but not identical.

But I like Simon's POR sprite. The white headband and the maroon armor and the sword on his belt all make him look so faithful to a design we only ever saw from the back.

And that's why this forum's banner always kind of bugs me. The end.

it is odd, considering that they went thru the trouble of creating a LEON BELMONT sprite but couldnt bother to update christophen's spirit. its not like they forgot he existed too, cuz in japanese version of harmony of mythology, the "bullet tip" soul is translated from "soul of christopher," an obvious homage to CVA & the fireball-whip gameplay

here is a compilation that i made a while back witch consists of all belmonts that ever existed in both 8-bit y 32-bit incarnations(some of the sprites were made by me, some are not mine, and i do not care); do with these what you will

Well, to me SoTN´s Duron looks a lot like his SCIV counterpart :P?

That Sonia´s 32-bit sprite is gorgeous :D. I wish somebody (maybe Konami) makes some day a Legends remake :).

As for the thread, I think that Christopher were not that popular than his relatives. When I see the art from Belmont´s Revenge the first time, I think that the Belmont I see were Trevor :P. I agree that Chris can replace Juste, but I am pretty sure that IGA prefers Juste over Christopher to introduce him into the Greatest Five... But why is not a Greatest Six???

In the Bible, the number 7 is the number of completion.  Not that I have a clue what 7 they should pick, but it's a "holy" religious thing they could add somehow maybe...just sayin'.
