I never played it on the 64 so maybe I'll invest in this.

If they do add in a MQ and Hero Mode, it will probably become the best 3DS title.

Nintendo 3DS - The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D - Announcement Trailer
Yep, it's legit this time.

Hell yeah! I can't wait for this to come out! Alot of aspects of the game scared me into not liking night in this game (like Ben and the moon).

By the way, is it true that the developers assuming that the players are fresh off of beating OoT when they play this game was what lead to this game's difficulty?
It is precisely because it never cared, that people do care.  It's something which it's lacking, because that which it has, it has lackluster of.

This game is difficult?  That's news to me.
However, the game does seem to require a bit more critical thinking than its predecessor.

I mean, how would you know that you had to help the Bombers?  How would you know that you would need to trade a Moon's Tear for a Title Deed to climb to the Clock Tower entrance?  How would you know that you had to get the Stray Fairies?

The imposing in-game clock/timer makes things a bit scarier than they truly are. so beginner players are often found rushing like a chicken with its head cut off.  Even after you get past the beginning, until you learn of the Inverted Song of Time (which is barely hinted at by the Scarecrow), you just see those minutes whiz on by.  I imagine that's what gives you that early sense of urgency.

Well, from what I've heard it's relatively difficult compared to the Zelda games before it, and that the difficulty curve is harsher.
It is precisely because it never cared, that people do care.  It's something which it's lacking, because that which it has, it has lackluster of.

It's loosely more open-ended in comparison, and there are a lot of "you can't get here until you do this other thing, but you don't know you have to do that thing" moments, so I agree with you in that regard, as this happens far more in this game than the previous games (except maaaybe Link's Awakening?).

I never cared for this title...not that it's a bad game or anything like that, but the time limit and repetition of it all annoyed me.  I agree somewhat with the Strong Bad's (from homestarrunner.com) sarcastic comment when, in one Halloween toon, he says, "Oh no, the evil moon is crashing into the Earth again! What a totally un-frustrating way to play a video game!"

And when I got to the end I felt like the ending really sucked too.  I just didn't care for it overall.  Good game, honestly, but I personally just didn't like it.

Plus, there's the idea that it's all pointless anyway!  It's just a theory though! ;-)

Another game theory  :D

Well to me this doesn't solve the problem but delays it for a short time. And when you reset time you also reset your starting position which I really hated. It just wastes more time. What I'm talking about is stopping the clock permanently. Right from the get-go. You could still alter time with the ocarina songs in order to do the quests but there would be no count down to doomsday. It would be nice if Majora's Mask had two modes of play. The traditional gameplay where you are still timed, and then an alternate game where there is no clock and you can take your time with the game like in other traditional Zelda titles. To me there's nothing scary about being rushed to prevent doomsday, it's just annoying and irritating.

I kinda felt this way with this original Pikmin...I loved the game, but hated the time pressure.  I felt like I was missing some of the "beauty" of the game because I was so concerned with trying to beat the clock.  And again with the fairly-recent New Super Mario 2 on 3DS...it seems like the levels are much larger, and with the focus on gathering coins (and all the hidden coins and areas in each stage) I just want to play, free from time, so I can look around every little detail of a level...find every little secret that becomes so hard to find and remember when I'm racing against a clock.  Perhaps this is just the curse of someone who is (at least somewhat) a completist?

Majora's Mask avoided this some by having the ability to alter time...replay the three days...you could "take all the time you wanted" by playing the three days over and over and over, each time exploring a different route or talking to different people.  However, the reset that came with it was annoying.  I also think I'd like the option to just explore, completely free of any time constraint.

Majora's Mask is one of the best games ever made (best Zelda game too). When I saw this trailer, I screamed. Funny how people still complain about the 3 day cycle lol. If you stop time completely, it ruins the entire point of the game. I've never once ran out of time while in a dungeon or something. The song of inverted time makes a significant difference.
