I downloaded the first one because my brother highly recommended it but I've been so into Baldur's Gate I haven't played a lot of it.

Oh yeah!

Is Konami testing the waters for another Suikoden game or they are just re-releasing all their old titles?

Either way it's good news for RPG fans. Both games for $12 instead of $100++ for the second one. At least if you happen to own a modern Playstation. If only they'd release these through Steam.

Not only that, but both the first and second Suikoden are finally coming to PSN Europe (in January). I doubt Konami is planning Suikoden 6 but according to some press release somewhere they were really happy and overwhelmed by the many fans still supporting the series, so that might have something to do with it (Suikoden Revival Movement has been working very hard for the last few years).

I think it's very strange that this legendary game didn't come out sooner though. God knows what Konami was waiting for.

Ah, Suikoden.. My favorite JRPG series e v e r, beating even Phantasy Star and Dragon Quest.

I've never tried this title before (the first one that is). From the sounds of it managing your own castle with your own soldiers kinda feels intimidating whereas your standard RPG doesn't ask a whole lot out of you. I don't know, should I give these two titles a shot?

Don't worry, it's nothing like you think (probably). Managing your castle is hardly any more complex than walking around in any town/village in any other JRPG, except you will "know" the characters that live in the castle a little better than in your average generic RPG village, and chances are you'll feel attached to quite a few of them. Recruited soldiers will show up in the castle. Some open up shops, some just stand around. You're not gonna feel intimidated, trust me. It's just awesome to see your army grow! The first Suikoden is a pretty short game so give it a try! And you don't even get the castle until quite a few hours into the game anyway.

Gave the first title a download and tried it out last night.

The Good: The game is interesting for the amount of time I played it. The leveling is faster then other RPGs so I don't have to grind. Didn't take me all that long to get a handle on the mechanics though I was worried it would.

The Bad: Wow. The action button goes off on its own whenever it feels like. I can't believe the game was released in America in that condition. They should have dealt with the problem before releasing it. It is annoying. At first I though my PSVita was broken. Then I closed the game and tested it in the menu and sure enough it was working fine. Nope, it's the game. This will make it difficult to play and no-doubt I will be missing some segments of the story since the button goes off on its own and skips it  >:(

Is there some setting to skip the dialog enabled?

I've checked out the settings in-game and found nothing related to the control scheme.

Damn it, my original Suikoden save file is on a PS1 memory card still. If you load that onto a Suikoden II save file, your characters are supposed to carry over. There's a way to move memory card info onto a PS3, but my buddy is the one with the equipment for that, and he's hardly ever home.

Maybe, just maybe this brings the second game back to sane price levels, though I think it saw a small press run.

Then again the Japanese version sells for fair prices, but one issue, it's in Japanese.

I'm kinda worried that I'll have the same issues with the second game in terms of control bugs. Has anybody downloaded the second game and played it yet?
