CV3 and CVA were mutually exclusive prequels to CV1 and CV2. IGA later made them fit together by placing CVA 100 years before CV1 and CV3 another 100 years before that. Though in reality, both games are pretty clear on the fact that it's the first time Dracula is supposed to be defeated.

Huh. Never knew that . I naturally figured that CV III and CVA had two totally different Belmonts. I guess IGA might have thought the same thin on some level.
