'Bout time they covered this one, and playing a legit copy nonetheless. Only 3 1/2 minutes in but loving them geeking out over the game, 'cos really, it's a game worth geeking out over, a lost gem over here only recently being played more widespread.

Like, it came out on Japanese Virtual Console seven years ago, I downloaded it, played it fully (as with the .exe version a year or whatever prior), and I'm still geeking out over how great it is.

As I read the comments, James preferred Super Castlevania IV and Rondo was close to second. Same thoughts as mine :)

This is pretty awesome, can't imagine playing this on the original console!

In related news I came into a PSP and have been playing DXC for the first time. It's really accurate! Not sure if I like the graphics (2.5D is ok but it's missing a lot of the charm of the original, and things like the bone skulls are WAY off).

You can unlock the original game in there too.

They're both great games, but I still think CV3 is the best ClassicVania. They just got the level design perfect in that one in my opinion.

Yeah fun episode. I love James' reviews. I do wish he went further into the game.

Yes I agree. I was kinda bummed they just stopped. I think they could have explored more with it.

I was expecting them to get Maria. Too bad they left her behind as the game seems to have handed them their assess, lol.

Hopefully they'll figure out all the maneuvers and tricks you can do and explore everything. That's what makes Rondo so interesting to me are its more-than-usual strategic gameplay and the branching paths within the levels, not just a menu at the end of a stage. Practically every enemy feels like you have to do a combination of whipping, jumping, backtracking, sometimes backflipping, and so on to avoid being hit.
