A significant amount of why I love DU is the campy, cheese factor and how evocative it is in some ways of the old school Universal and Hammer Horror Dracula movies, whilst being something very different and more modern. It's a feel good, silly romp that has enough little nods to the real history of Vlad Tepes to make me happy, even if they did leave all of the stuff with Radu etc out. The bits which are very similar to Lords of Shadow, especially the hand of bats, also helps.
