Not quite the run away home run Nintendo had hoped at the start.

Let's just assume the Wii U is a failure despite a reasonable second wind, and knowing it failed to even beat the Nintendo Gamecube.

And then let's hope the NX allows us to walk on water and transform the world's oceans into fine, FINE ale.
Because it's gonna need to be that awesome for Nintendo's sake.

3DS still prints money, so they'll be ok.

Never did buy a Wii U. I just don't see the relevance at this point. Perhaps if they had done more with it rather then making it an upgraded extension of the Wii, then I probably would have bought it. That, and I haven't seen any game for it that I'm overly interested in yet.

I feel ya there. I bought one last year (for cheap, it was like barely $200), and even at its discounted price, I regret the purchase. The only games I have that are worth a damn on it are Hyrule Warriors and Super Smash Bros, but even then the former gets pretty old (and that's saying something, considering I looooove Warriors games), and Super Smash Bros really doesn't feel that different to me (mind you, I'm no competitive fighter).

Aside from that, though, all the titles worth buying are all first-party titles, with the occasional third-party exclusive. But Nintendo hardly EVER drops prices on their games, and when they do, I don't even care about the game anymore. I don't mind spending full price on a game every once in a while, but I'm not going to do it on every game for a particular system.

I really wish Nintendo would ditch their "our games never lose value" mentality, and actually started reasonably lowering the prices on their games after a while. I'd be more inclined to use the damn thing if they did. There's no reason games like Mario Kart Wii and Punchout should still be $30.

I would have just ended up buying Hyrule Warriors, Super Smash, and Bayonetta 2 and just called it a day.

So happy I didn't invest in this system.

The system's by all accounts a market failure, but it's a damn fine machine in my book. The really fun exclusives are:

- Super Mario 3D World
- Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
- Hyrule Warriors
- Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
- Mario Kart 8
- Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
- Kirby and the Rainbow Curse
- The Wonderful 101

With presumably Yoshi's Woolly World, Star Fox Zero, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Rodea the Sky Soldier, and Armikrog all going to be great games. (That last one's also on PC but the Wii U version is coming much later as they're tweaking it to utilize the Wii U GamePad and dual screen setup more.) There's also that cool looking RTS/party game Hex Heroes coming up. Splatoon is a big system seller but I've yet to pick it up.

Granted, all but a few of those are first-party games but they're damn good ones. There's much more to the Wii U than people typically give it credit for, although I felt the same way about the Wii.
Oh yeah, and also:

I see your sig pic and just think..."CLASSIC Nintendo!"  ;D

I haven't dug too deep into the games for the Wii-U yet, but Super Mario 3D World was a damn good one. Most fun I've had with a Mario game since SMB3. If there are more games as good as that on the Wii-U, I'm all for it.

(Would love to see a new Zelda and new Metroid, though...and not a "Prime" Metroid, either.)
It's like Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, but instead it's Who Wants Fried Chicken? I do.
