Mighty No. 9 possibly delayed to 2016.

http://www.pcgamer.com/report-mighty-no-9-delayed-to-2016/

It's possible, as GameStop and Amazon lists the release date for 12/31/2016 now instead of 9/15/2015. Game Informer also stated that it will not come out this year. However, Steam still lists the date as 9/15/2015, so maybe only the console versions were delayed? Or maybe someone around here is mistaken? I dunno.

Thoughts? I know a lot of you, particularly those who backed the game, have been waiting a long time for Mighty No. 9 so to hear its getting delayed again would be, understandably, quite annoying.

I, personally, think it is annoying. Especially since the developers have been spending so much time making MN09 a franchise when the first game hasn't even released yet. I mean, we got a TV series, Beck appearing in Mighty Gunvolt, a Beck costume in Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z, and Beck and Call appearing in Red Ash, all this before the first game's release. Maybe they're delaying it so they can do a mobile companion app, a social browser game, a collectible card game, a movie, and a Broadway musical, too. lol

But in all seriousness, it kinda sucks it's (possibly) getting delayed again.

As much as I respect Inafune, I do think he's fumbling pretty hard with his new franchise. One step at a time, sir.
It is precisely because it never cared, that people do care.  It's something which it's lacking, because that which it has, it has lackluster of.

He should have never branched out until the game came out and we played it and (hopefully) loved it. Instead, he wants overnight success and instant brand recognition. You don't do that by forcing so much information out at once. Perhaps it worked in the '80s (brands with toys, cartoons, Happy Meal prizes) but not now when we're all jaded adults with so much information/entertainment surrounding us as it is.

Exactly what I thought. It's like, all this stuff for MN09 is getting announced. What if the game bombs? If that happens, no one will even care as much about the rest of the stuff they're releasing for it. It's a huge gamble, and one that shouldn't be taken so early in a franchise.

Inafune really is showing that he's just a business man instead of a programmer/producer....and not a very good one it seems.

Releases a new campaign while Mighty No.9 is being delayed...they decides that, before the new campaign is even finished, that they will allow a Chinese company to publish the game so now all KS funding will be for "stretch goals" instead.

Shitty planning and shitty communication. I'm glad I missed the boat on MN9.

Under the pretense it is possibly delayed, it is a shame. The initial footage looked so good, but what we see now is not all that impressive. I will still play the game, but I'm not expecting what I was. If it is delayed, I can only wonder why. I'm hoping it would be for much needed polish and new features.

Well, in business terms for the gaming industry it does make sense to a degree. But he could have handled it better.

What I mean is, when a project is closing up you rarely need the artists, level designers, gameplay designers, musicians, etc. It's mostly all about tweaking the game and fixing bugs. They are still on your payroll however, so you need to make use of them somehow. They can head on to preproduction for the next game. That being REDASH in this case.

This is a normal process, and all well and good, until he tried to kickstart another preproduction before the first game was out. It worked for Mighty for a number of reasons, but the Kickstarter 'game' changes when your first donation based project hasn't left the house yet.

Really all they needed to do was make a prototype while Mighty was getting ready to ship, and then kickstart it a couple of weeks (presumably) after Mighty launched. Imagine if Mighty came out to rave reviews, and then they dropped a REDASH playable prototype in our laps? The streets would have been paved with gold for Comcept.

Most of the problems here I think is Inafune felt he already had the good faith, a little arrogant unfortunately, so he could just shit out another Kickstarter and no one would second guess it.

This all begs the question though, did Comcept not have money to wait or was Inafune just doing the normal route without thinking how it may effect people's perspective of REDASH? Was their 'well' really so dry they had no choice but to spit out a lackluster Kickstarter? Did you notice there was no visible management team this time? Bloodstained had a wonderful management team, the same one they had for Mighty. But why didn't REDASH have the same team?

After hearing about Comcept cancelling one of their other game projects (the one with animal pirates), it made me wonder if maybe the money train died because Mighty got delayed. They still have to pay the people working on Mighty when it gets delayed. It may have run so far over that they were in a money crisis. Hell, if this next delay for Mighty is true it may be because they had to cut staff to stay afloat. Less staff means longer development time, hence the delay. This is also very dependent on how Inticreates balances the financial weight of Mighty with Comcept. It is something we were never really told.

All speculation of course, but it makes you think...

As for REDASH now being published by some no-name Chinese company... I'm not sure how I feel about that yet. Some part of me is just glad REDASH did not fail despite the massive fuck up it became on Kickstarter.

Sounds like it was a false alarm. Too bad though in a way, I really did wish they polished up the art direction a bit more and finally get rid of the lackluster prototype HUD.

Yup, confirmed it was a mistake.

The level designs are what really bother me, and I was kinda hoping a long delay was to address that. They look really empty and look like they mostly involve just straight forward paths that occasionally zig-zag upward. The only Mega Man games I've really played are the first two X games and Maverick Hunter, and all three of those have fantastic level design. It's a shame this one isn't following on that.

Although I haven't played some of the later X games, I always thought MM8 and X4 were two of the dullest sidescroller platformers I've ever played. The series kind of fell in a rut for a while but picked up with MM Zero, though I've always attributed that to Inti Creates more than Inafune. I guess the Legends games are supposed to be pretty great but I'm usually bored when I try them. I don't think Inafune is the producer people have always thought him to be.

Ok lets take that false alarm back. Now Comcept has officially announced the delay. No new specific date, just Q1 2016. Reason is, online is still glitched, and they need to fix it.
