the more I learn about it, the more I'm convinced to get a Wii U for XCX.
(Well I did get Genesis for Street Fighter II, and PS1 for FFVII, and this looking to be leagues better than all the games to date.)   ;D
The character customization is not on par with PSO2, but already found favorites with the options available.
Monolith Soft really surpassed themselves and setting new standards for the genre!!
(Yes I know the mechs are not obtained until much much later, but there's a whole open world to enjoy on foot in the meantime,
plus there is plenty of post story content to do, and that's not counting the squad activities with other players.  Takahashi confirmed
Japanese players already played double to triple the time they played through the story chapters.   This has immense replay value unlike any other.)

I've wondered about this title.  I've been loving the remake of Xenoblade Chronicles on the 3DS, so I thought I might love this one too.  However, my cousin (who works in the game biz, and has some "connections" and "inside info") said it looked really bad and boring.  That doesn't necessarily mean anything though -- our tastes are both similar/different enough that sometimes we completely agree and others we completely disagree.  Point being, I need and want to learn some more about this game.

The topic title is baffling, as always... Very GameFAQs.

Anyway, I am interested in this but it's not enough for me to actually buy a WiiU. Zelda might change that though. And Mario Maker is by far the most interesting thing I've seen on the console so far. Xenoblade X would probably be bought as my third game. Or possibly forth (Forgot about Bayonetta 2).

that is baffling that it takes a Zelda for you to be interested in getting a Wii U, but not this?   :o Considering you seem to idolize Rune, someone from Phantasy Star IV, which is a sci fi RPG that has vehicles that can be used for combat, among dozens of other things Zelda games don't have, but XCX has and a whole lot more,  it's really strange that Zelda gets such unhealthy amounts of faith and interest despite how much less it offers and less freedom on multiple levels.

Xenoblade X surpasses what other RPGs and open world games offer.    It's baffling that Zelda franchise is so overrated to fanatical proportions, that despite the fact it basically rehashes its usual Link vs Ganonwhatever themes almost to the point that it's a one trick pony like Mario scenarios,  yet nintendo fans don't need a lot to be convinced to buy a console for a Zelda game.    and in the meantime, a lot of people are getting a console for Fallout 4, which is basically a garbage dump compared to XCX.  Even Mass Effect trilogy is shallow compared to what Xenoblade X brings to the table.

I think it's a combination of fanatical zeal towards longtime franchises (are too sensitive to try something different),
xenophobic attitude towards foreign games (yes there is racism and fanatical crowds that only give western games a chance),
ridicule towards the Wii U itself and its low sales (Wii U is seen as a joke by the masses, which further makes it difficult for even a masterpiece to convince people to get a Wii U for),
the immature audience that can't accept more mature themes and serious tone (which is why those gamers only care about Mario and Zelda related stuff),
and the skeptics, that see everything as negative, and think that anyone praises something that isn't mainstream or not in their interest, are seen as marketers.

Xenoblade X is the RPG a lot of people been waiting for, but are too distracted by franchise with longer legacies (and less thought and effort put into them) to explore Xenoblade X's masterful qualities.

As a Phantasy Star fan myself, in my opinion, XCX is everything Sega should be doing for Phantasy Star.  It's obvious they are out of ideas for Sonic.  it is wasteful that the only thing they do for Phantasy Star is PSO2 and maybe some portable.   giving Sonic more support than Phantasy Star is like if Square were to support Brave Fencer Musashi more than Final Fantasy in a scenario where Musashi was their flagship franchise, and Final Fantasy just came along later on. it's would be obvious to dump Musashi and support FF.   IMO, Sega should change mascots and franchise focus, then again, they probably don't have the talent to do what XCX is doing, even if they were to allocate all of Sonic's budget to a Phantasy Star console open world RPG

and Nintendo overlooking Xenoblade Chronicles X is like if Square USA or Sony USA would overlook FFVII during PS1 era and not promote it as much as they should.
A lot of masterpieces get missed because the gamers are satisfied and only interested in the franchises that have been around since the 80s.

Yes even a supreme masterpiece is not for everyone,  but there is no mecha RPG nor RPG in general at Xenoblade X's level and league of brilliance.    It really deserves Final Fantasy levels of hype from rpg fans, especially the Wii U fans which are starving for a worthy exclusive.    Considering I have specific tastes in rpg design quality and other things, for Xenoblade X to convince me to get a Wii U for it, says a lot about how significant Xenoblade Chronicles X really is.

Anyone that has that affinity towards wanting an RPG specifically like this, that hasn't come to be until Monolith Soft literally made it happen, could feel the same.   You don't get an rpg exactly like this every gen.    And there has never been an RPG of this kind and level until now.

New Super Mario Bros U (excellent level design, it's being re-released in October alongside Luigi U)
Super Mario Maker
Super Mario 3D World
Mario Kart 8
Captain Toad
Kirby and the Rainbow Curse
The Wonderful 101
Bayonetta 1-2
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate

Upcoming:
Yoshi's Woolly World
Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water
Star Fox Zero
Xenoblade Chronicles X
Devil's Third
Zelda Wii U.

There are plenty of reasons to buy a Wii U, even more if you don't have a Wii in which case you missed out on some other great games.

Xenosaga shouldn't even be put in the same breath as Xenogears. The should just do a straight remake of Xenogears.

Uhm. You continue to baffle me. Racism? Immature?
I said I'm interested in this game. It looks good. But it seems funny to call it the "ultimate RPG" when you haven't even played it. Or have you?

And I really like Zelda. What can I say? It's a console seller for me. And if I get a WiiU with Zelda (And Mario Maker) I will 100% pick up Xenoblade too. There's no conflict here, y'know.

I hope this turn out to be every bit as "ultimate" as you say. That would be awesome.

Person 1: this game is brilliant, best ever.

Person 2: No it's not my cup of tea, so I don't find it the best ever.

Person 3: No, another game I've played is best ever.

Me: It's subjective, there is no such thing as best game ever, everyone has a different opinion, value that.

All 3 people: *glares the death stare at me*

Me: That's the way it is, accept it.

I researched the Japanese version enough to know that this is the new ultimate RPG ever for those that seek this kind of RPG.

In my opinion, Xenoblade X is a shining example that Phantasy Star and other franchises should learn from (but of course those companies are too up their own arse to realize how extraordinary, wonderful, and ideal Xenoblade X's design and formula really is.  They would sooner follow lesser games and lesser formulas, and that is those companies mistakes overlooking a superior game with superior design fundamentals and features).

there are companies that spend more on their games and don't even possess a fraction of Xenoblade X's values.

Of course like others, it's not for everyone, but it takes something that surpasses all others to convince me to buy a console for it.

Even mech fans will not find a mech RPG of this revolutionary quality.  the Skells are unlocked much much later, but the fact the play time for Xenoblade X more than doubles the play time people make playing through the story campaign.
the post game is practically endless compared to rpgs that are pretty much over in play incentivs after the 30-60 hour mark.   And people will be glad they explore first on foot before the Skells change the entire feeling of travel (and combat).

And that's not even factoring in the online features.

XCX has so much outstanding things about it, it really takes an ascended open mind to see it all.

the English dubs are perfect too

Well all fans can do is spread the word to those compatible with this type of masterpiece.

Anyway, I am interested in this but it's not enough for me to actually buy a WiiU. Zelda might change that though.

Now see I had the same thoughts. However, 10 million Wii U's have sold world wide.
If Zelda released as a Wii U exclusive they'd likely sell 4 million at absolute best.

It's not hard figure that as a business decision Nintendo would be better off releasing this in parallel as a launch title for the NX. They'd be silly not to after all those years developing the game as well as prolonging the delay.
I think it will get the same treatment as TP; dual console release.

The Nintendo community is ruining it for themselves jumping onto the ludicruous anticensorship controversy bandwagon.   We know not buying the game would result in the same thing if people didn't buy a Konami game, they would just drop the IP and not make anymore.  Low sales will not affect their censorship decisions.  XCX is still totally playable without bust slider, and games like Fallout 4 do fine without bust slider.  I was going to choose the default bust size anyways.

I have lived a perfectly happy life without bust sliders in video games before, so I think I can manage this time as well.  ;D Visual character customization is cool but it's definitely not what makes or breaks a game.

I have my eyes on this game, for sure. If I finally buy a WiiU I'll get Xenoblade X, Bayonetta 2, Mario Maker, Fatal Frame, Mario World 3D and possibly that Kirby game to start with... And maaaaaaybe Tropical Freeze? Or Mario Kart 8? Hmmm... decisions..

What is a bust slider? You slide it to adjust bust size?

Yeah, you're right, Zangetsu. With a bust slider you could make either flat chested characters or very busty ones. They removed it so all the female characters have the same chest size in the American version.

I have lived a perfectly happy life without bust sliders in video games before, so I think I can manage this time as well.  ;D Visual character customization is cool but it's definitely not what makes or breaks a game.

Fair enough. In my case, I won't be buying the game cause I don't have a Wii U, but I've been talking about how I can see the rationale for the "censorship." The localizers might have thought a boob slider could be used to make 'loli' characters, which would have increased the rating of the game and made it lose sales (Some acquaintances of mine get mad at me whenever I bring that point up even when they agree with it because they say my assessment of the matter should be based on morality, which is also fair enough, but I'm more of an economist than a moralist so I tend to concentrate on economics more than anything else).
