I want a sandbox Star Wars game so badly. I imagine it would be one hell of a sandbox.

You begin by selecting your race and gender, with I imagine several choices, like Human, Twi'Lek, Wookie, Rodian, etc; choosing whether or not you are a Force Sensitive (with passive buffs available to non-Force users to balance the play field). Like in Skyrim, there are no proper classes and you instead become more proficient in skills the more you use them.

Several planets are visited over the course of the narrative (with large open areas linked together like Mass Effect that support free travel between them on each world). The combat like The Witcher 3 with primary focus being on either shooting or slicing and then on secondary abilities (i.e; the Force or Tech being used like Signs and bombs in Witcher 3).

Regardless of being a Force user or not, you're presented with alignment checkpoints (in the form of dialog, plot decisions, and your proclivity at mass murdering random innocent bystanders), basically being "Light, Grey, Dark".

And like Skyrim, you're free to just dash off as soon as you clear the tutorial and never touch the main plot at all, diving into crafting, adventuring, and joining various factions (I'm totally joining the Empire).

The reason that I refer to this mystical project as "Skyrim with Lightsabers" is because Skyrim is probably the most recent game to get all of that essentially right.

Skyrim. Just bigger. And Star Wars.

Oh yeah.
How not to be a dark lord: the answer to that is a terribly interesting answer that involves an almost Jedi-like adherence to keeping oneself under control and finding ways to be true to yourself in a way that doesn't encourage the worst parts of you to become dangerously exaggerated and instead feeds your better nature. Also, protip: don't fuck with Alchemy or strike up any deals with ancient Japanese Shinigami gods no matter how tempting the deal or how suavely dressed the Shinigami is.

That would be awesome to play! However the game should also have intense space battles and aerial battles on planets as well. Otherwise it's only partially Star Wars. Having an enemy encounter in space like that of Knights of the Old Republic would help. But rather then having the same battle over and over again you would be confronted with random incursions of different types of enemy encounters.

Maybe, but I don't think having a fighter pilot sim or anything of the sort would be all that helpful to the game. An encounter onboard a starship, definitely. I don't know about flying the ships actively though. I suppose it could work for some characters, but it might break immersion for others.

I would want the game to support a noncombatant character build though, based on my recent experiment with Skyrim playing a medic/support class. Force senstives would be able to mind trick their way out of situations, whereas others would be able to talk their way out or otherwise stealthily avoid dangerous encounters.

So kind of like Deus Ex where everything has multiple options.
