What Was The Curse Turned Into?

Speculation time: Part II

Watch this:

Near the end, Hector turns the Curse into "something harmless". But, as per Julia's speech at the very end, we know that the curse still took root in the hearts of humans and would take time to disappear. Even so, it does look like Hector rid the land of something extremelly powerful.

My question is: Could we actually figure out what did Hector turn the Curse into? Sure, we see that ball of light and we have a big exploding show, but... What then? That's it? Just a bunch of lights? We know his technique infuses a soul into something supposed to come to life, but we see nothing come out of it, just a bunch of lights.

Also, have you dudes noticed that the Devil Forgemaster Crest appears under the ball of light as Hector holds it?

And, something minor here: In english Dracula says that "his soul may return to the abyss" but in japanese he uses the word "darkness" ("ankoku"). Some people think that the abyss he's talking about is THE Dawn of Sorrow Abyss. But no, he's probably being general here with the use of the word "darkness".

While I'd always made the assumption he'd transformed it into some kind of small animal with a short lifespan, nothing is ever directly seen, so I doubt we'll ever know for certain.

One of Curse's strengths is its greatest weaknesses as well -- it tends to respect (to some degree, any way) the intelligence of the player and so it doesn't explain as much and instead implies a lot and hopes you're smart enough to pick up the implications. Unfortunately, it did so horribly because Iga is not a subtle man and as a result it comes across as lazy storytelling (because in the end, that's what it became).

Maybe the thing Hector turned the curse of darkness into was the plotline of Curse of Darkness!

I couldn't find anything conclusive so the following is just a possible interpretation. Hector says: "Have you forgotten? I'm a Devil Forgemaster. I can turn magical power into something else easily.", which seems to have more or less the same as what he says in English. After chanting the spell he doesn't say "it's too monstrous", but he says "this power is too huge", like perhaps he lost control? So maybe the reason you don't see anything is because whatever he tried to create just...exploded?

Another of IGA's plots left ambiguous. Bad writing on his part or bad translation syndrome by those at Konami of America. My personal opinion? Hector nullified the Curse, rendering the majority of it harmless in the end. Whatever was left of the curse would eventually work itself out of the hearts of humanity.

Yeah, he could have turned it into a fly. It's small enough so we can't see it.

A fly. A really evil fly.

This is what happens when confused, stressed, and burnt out people try to make plotlines.

You wind up with fans who spend eternity spinning their tires trying to make sense of the senseless.

It's awesome that you dig as deep as you can into CV lore plot but you have to be aware of the fact that a lot of your work is in vain.

You're deep down a rabbit hole man and the rabbit is long gone.

The worst monsters are human.

I hope you didn't take the fly comment seriously xD

I actually think like X. The Curse was merely dispelled but the translation team made it unintentionally confusing, or the japanese team simply failed to explain the limits of Hector's powers.

But yeah... Digging deep can only wield so many golden nuggets. Most information is redundant, and many of the holes have zero explanation at all.

Ah... How I wish Konami would let me take a look at that Castlevania dev bible I know is hidden somewhere inside their evil HQ.

You should make a platformer game out of this idea.

The hero has been cursed and needs to infiltrate Konami HQ to obtain the Castlevania Bible, confront the evil therein, and lift the curse once and for all.

As fans, we are all cursed.

Okay, that got a laugh out of me.
Well done. You have cracked the iron beast.

The fly must have bred in the interim time though -- remember all the demon flies Dante had to kill in the bowels of the Castle in the first game?

Omigod this has all the makings of a great Tumblr fanfic guys.

Would that mean Mundus is Dracula and his glowing core thing is the Crimson Stone?

And that Dante, the kinda-apathetic-kinda-cheesy-voice-acting-totally-badass guy infiltrating the castle, is Alucard?

And that Trish is Maria and Nelo Angelo is Possessed Richter and

*is shot*

I'd say Hector is Nero
Dante = Saint Germain
Isaac = Vergil
Dracula = Sparda
Rosalie = Dante's mother
Trish = The Voluptuous Julia
