Look at this crap.

I've lost count how many Metal Gear fans I tried to sway over to the Castlevania side when it was being turned into a pachinko. The response? "Nobody gives a shit for Castlevania." I told them Metal Gear was next on the line, and heard that Metal Gear was untouchable and Konami would never do this to Metal Gear.

On one hand this is incredibly sad. To see Konami rape their long-standing IPs like this. On the other, I'm really spiteful at the Metal Gear fanbase. We and the Silent Hill fanbase cried for help and they turned their eyes away because MUH METAL GEAR. Now there's nobody to cry for help to.

Heh.  How are those fans handling the news now?  Also kinda surprised they've been mean to the Silent Hill fanbase, since Kojima was working on Silent Hills.

Yeah that was basically my response. "Welcome to my world"
We didn't even get a proper recognition of Castlevania's 25th anniversary because Konami were so busy throwing everything to Metal Gear, now that Kojima's gone it looks like they're not even gonna try to exploit the franchise further and it's gonna be another IP to throw on Pachinko machines. The schadenfreude is real.

So who's going to get the skanky parlor girl redesign in this one?

Will The Boss be spouting motivational lines at Snake while running around in a half-stealth suit/half-bikini ensemble for no reason?

One of my best pals did 3 tours of duty in Afghanistan during the War on Terror and after doing so said he could never play Snake Eater again as his experiences had led him to view the Boss' rants and speeches as not motivational at all; rather he recognized them as the rantings of a character who was "overflowing from the brim with shit" and "a huge slap in the face to any real serviceman. If she truly feels the way she claims to at any point in the game she should have simply retired years before as there's a clear morale problem here."

Ironically, making The Boss dress like a skank might improve his opinion of her somewhat by marking her as a parody of the "warrior-philosopher".
How not to be a dark lord: the answer to that is a terribly interesting answer that involves an almost Jedi-like adherence to keeping oneself under control and finding ways to be true to yourself in a way that doesn't encourage the worst parts of you to become dangerously exaggerated and instead feeds your better nature. Also, protip: don't fuck with Alchemy or strike up any deals with ancient Japanese Shinigami gods no matter how tempting the deal or how suavely dressed the Shinigami is.

I still don't get the CV ones. Like, CV wasn't very popular in Japan, so why the fuck market a machine using it? Yeah, Pachinkos are popular af over there, but why would someone play a machine marketed using a franchise they most likely don't care about? MG I can see cus MG is still popular in Japan (?). Still.... Common...

Sad thing, this strategy is actually working for Konami. Mobile only is making them gangbusters, along with some help from the pachinkos: http://in.ign.com/metal-gear-solid-5/92926/news/konami-profits-rise-after-switching-focus-to-mobile
