One possible con is the physical size of the Switch and there being no screen-protective clamshell design. A New 3DS XL just BARELY fits in a pocket as it is.

I get that some people carry around tablets and hopefully someone will make a nice carrying case for the system, but I think the large size might make it a bit less appealing to some as a handheld.

I'm sure Nintendo is thinking, if the ipads are big, so can our handhelds.
Hori or any other 3rd party will definitely make a carrying case for it.

If any 3rd party carrying case doesn't fit your needs, if you know how to DIY or know someone who can, then there's no problem.

Nintendo or a 3P supplier will definitely make a carry case akin to the iPad's. The Wii U gamepad was never meant to be taken out of your house, the first thing they have to account for with encouraging this nature of the console is that people will drop it.

Never was a problem for Sony. PlayStation is second only to Nintendo for best D-pad. Granted, the Switch controller has the directions spaced out farther than a DualShock and they don't taper toward the center, so that could be a problem. Won't know till we've played it.

The Pro controller has a normal Ninty D-pad at least.

True but the dpad on the dualshocks is shaped for a thumb to easily rock around. The Switch literally seems to have four individual buttons, like using the ABXY as a dpad. It'll be fine for modern games that don't heavily use the dpad but for 8 and 16bit games I think it could be a problem. Pat the NES punk did say on his podcast he sees Nintendo releasing virtual console themed joycons to give Switch NES or SNES style controls, and that's an awesome idea

Yeah, but how much is this console/handheld hybrid going to cost?  People who only buy the portable might not buy it if it's over $249.99 USD.

This is something they haven't thought out properly. Unless they keep making DS's or handhelds which are separate and cheaper than the Switch, which is kinda pointless imo.
