Even though I dislike the anime-style, I really like DoS' anime-OP. And I find the OoE-opening cinematic kind of cheap too. I don't really know what I would have done, but that's like... we take some artworx and put them together with music... Ugh, I dunno. Do they really have to make opening cinematics anyway?

Of course they need opening cinematics. However, I would've prefered to super cliche opening where you get a picture of the main character with their name written vertically on the left side of the screen, then the picture changes to a close up on her face. Then, they have an in-game video of her fighting off monsters. Then, they do Albus, and just keep on going across the characters list until they get to Dracula and do something dark and evil scene of Shanoa standing before the castle, then the bats fly up to the top where they form the "start game" screen. You know, something more like this:

Not exactly like that, obviously, but similar, yet comverted to be more Castlevanian.

That's just my opinion anyway. :P

I highly disagree. I thought this opening cinematic showed much more style and reaffirmed Konami's departure from super-cheap anime. I like this intro MUCH better than pretty much any intro cinematic I've seen in Castlevania so far.

Why do the fans complain when Konami uses cliches, but when they try something different, they want them to go back to cliche?

I agree that it's better than any other Castlevania opening so far. I like it; I'm just stating that I'd prefer something else. It's still a great opening.

Anyway, stating your opinion isn't complaining.

I liked the opening personally.  The artwork is beautiful and everything goes well with the music.

I was suppose to say something profound here. I don't 'do' profound so much as ramble so...whatever. Here lies text. Congratulations for reading it.  You were as bored as I am. Seriously, stop reading, you can't be that bored.  Still here? Really?  You officially are my new favorite person and now are owed one internet cookie. Don't eat it though, it gives you bad gas.

Yeah the trailer was kickass, personally i love everything about this game so far, aside from the level up aspect which I can live with though. I wish they'd go back to just having 1 level of strength for the whole game like the old ones and just give you new abilities, whip/weapon upgrades, and items. The level up thing really isn't necessary for making a good game. Hopefully their'll be an option for this but unlike Por the level you start out at won't be weak as shit but more all around balanced. Maybe becoming weaker like the old vanias later on as you progress through the game and have time to master it.

um guys, castlevania didn't really have opening cinematics as a requirement until dos.

as far as i remember only dos, cod and pork (and before, rondo had the scene with drac being revived, but that could also count as a prologue since it ties with the story rather than showcasing the hero killing random enemies for the lulz and the villains) had those. loi starts out from a prologue scrolling text like every post sotn title.

bloodlines's was just a less boring prologue with some cutscene pieces rather than wall of text like every other game.

edit: oh yeah, rondo has a one time opening type prologue animation, but it was only when you started a new game file.

also
you should play DXC serio my homedawg. It's old skewl Castlevania acshan :D

not until it's emulated. i'm not planning to buy a psp.

Opening text has been around far before SoTN.  Remember Cv3?  Hell even Cv2 had like 1 paragraph.

Well, the concept of leveling up is just an annoying RPG element added to Castlevania. I can tolerate it though. It doesn't really bother me much, unless I play the original games, then convert to more recent titles that do have level ups. I think it takes away from the challenge. Now, it doesn't matter how bad you are, as long as you're a high enough level, you'll win easily. I think the same thing about potions. It takes away from the challenge. Castlevania was originally very hard, but now it's not very challenging, with a few exceptions.

???
Like there is only one way to play it. You can assign how hard it will be yourself. By leveling, if you want it easy, or not leveling, if you like it hard.

If you just go your way and kill the enemies in your way, it won't be too easy. But then again... if you want a special item drop...

That's true. I just miss the crazy-hard Castlevania it was originally, which is why I'm collecting the older ones. My NES is crap, so I'll probably end up buying a few on the internet with Wii points, as much as I'm opposed to the idea. Too bad I don't have $20 to spend on the points I need. Although, I'm really happy because I just got a great deal for The Castlevania Adventure on Amazon.com for $2.98! ;D

i know, it was just an example, and since sotn the prologue text was used in every single 2d game in the exact same form.
