
I dunno. There's lotsa detail here, but the colors are tacky. It's like color cacaphone (yes I've been waiting to use that one). It reminds me too much of something outta DoS.
The interesting thing is. There's a level-switch door to her right, yet there is no way forward. This is indeed a closed space, but the way the village has looked in screens, it doesn't seem a house would be arranged perpendicular to the village. All the houses were in the background.
This leads me to believe you can push "up" to enter some background doors. Castlevania has never really done this since Simon's Quest. I could be wrong, but it seems to point to this, as does the map image above it.
However, it has always been something I wanted in Castlevania again anyway. It's such a simple concept but it could really make for a more interesting castle if done right. And when you think about it, it's the only plausible way to represent such a village in 2D.
