Hmm... it seems those magnetic spheres aren't just used here and there: they're seen everywhere throughout that trailer. She was able to use them on two bosses. THey might be a bigger part of the platforming than I thought.

Also, at least so far, it seems there is yet another instance of sea-life being in an area that doesn't make sense (end of video).

Maybe you don't choose a glyph from the head of the Order, maybe he just gives you your first 3 glyphs. I say this because one of the glyphs he summons is a different color than the other two. So possibly the other colored one is the one that goes on the back, and the same colored ones are for the hands.

You can see things at triple size if you type this in your address bar, or, hell, just click it:

http://www.konami.jp/gs/game/dracula_ds3/player.swf

... but of course it makes things more pixelated. Just a different way to view it.

I have to agree with some of the previous posts.

The colour palette, to me, does seem quite similar to AoS. Which was a bit too gray for my taste, but hey, it might look differant on an actual DS.

Music too I thought was "gray" if you get my meaning, kind of indistinguishable and uneventfull, Yamane could do alot better.

EDIT: After watching the trailer a few more times, the music isn't all that bad, grew on me I guess.

Also, I hope they don't use the Magnes glyph TOO much. It seemed like they used it ALOT in the demo, especially with bosses. It's ccol and all, but I don't want to be doing it all the time. (On the other hand it is kind of a cool throwback to Simon's whip swinging in a way).

I'm coming across as too negative though, I generally liked what I saw, and I thought the opening was really excelent. The game also seems to have alot more storytelling, which is good.

Oh and complaining about woman protagonists who aren't being tied to railroads by men with curly mustaches is sexist.

My guess is you actually are chased up that tower by the crab creature, and then actually knock the elevator from the top to eventually crush it.

I see what you mean, but now I'm even more confused. If she's on top, or inside of that elevator when it falls, how the hell does she get in it, when she's coming from the bottom?

Thanks. Interesting that he shoots back, "That's TOP SECRET!" Not so much that he said "top secret", but more that he didn't answer in any sort of negative way to the question about a possible Wii title.

Also, interesting to know IGA wants DS games in general to be cheaper, and would like Nintendo to include more RAM for the supposed "DS 2".

On a side note, do you think the DS 2 will feature backwards compatability with Game Boy?

OK, after reading in many forums about the new trailer, all people are complaining about enemies recycling. Honestly, i can see more new enemies than old enemies at the trailer. Also the old enemies, except axe armor, they have new look and better animation. So really, i don't think that there is a reason to complain, but at the other hand, this is just my opinion!

I agree, I see way more new enemies than recycled. The bosses look the best I've seen on the hand-held CVs yet; even the secondary character sprites look much better than POR's or DOS'.

After waching the trailer again, i noticed at the end of it, that those balloon enemies, are looking like the alien boss from Super Metroid. Also the most cool boss for me is the giant crab. It's just so awesome. Can't wait for fall to get that game!

The trailer was cool, but the music concerns me. Yamane keeps cranking out these well-written but poorly conceptualized songs. Basically this started with Aria of Sorrow's "Top Floor", which was a cool song, but after that she really got attached to these "8th notes in the bass + standard drum pattern" arrangements. The Portrait of Ruin soundtrack is almost entirely arranged like this. She is losing her compositional range and even her sense of dynamics and contrast within individual songs. PoR was pretty much all just standard upbeat tracks, no variation. None of the elegance of Wood Carving Partita, the melancholy of Lost Painting, the reverence of Requiem for the Gods, or the beauty of Dance of Pales. No rad symphonic metal tracks like Tragic Prince or jazz fusion experiments like Crystal Teardrops or Wandering Ghosts. No two songs on the SotN, AoS, or LoI soundtracks are alike, so what's her problem now? She really needs to think about what she's doing because she is one of the best composers around today and it'd be a shame if OoE had another completely flat soundtrack like PoR's or a mostly unremarkable one like DoS's.

I don't give a shit if it's sexist or not. That's how I feel. I can't relate to a woman protagonist.

Guess you better get in touch with your female side bro...

I was going to mention that. I dont think its fair to deem it sea-life because its jelly fish shaped. it looks ghastly enough to not be sea-life. (i know after that thing in PoR everyone's on alert for such atrocities.)

Yeah Phantoon was the ghost entity of the Wrecked Ship, which did resemble a jellyfish somewhat... but that was more of a specter and the ship didn't really have that much water, since it was only partially submerged.

The real water boss from Super Metroid's Maridia area is called Draygon (or Doragon in some translations), a large crustacean.

The music sounds like something from the Genesis.
It's pretty good to me..although it could use a much more sinister sound while keeping the elegant, yet up-beat tones of Castlevania.
Is Michiru Yamane the only composer this time?
