I always thought the whole "relating to fictional characters" was a pile of shit. And I mean, at the basic level, with no real human emotion attached to them. Y'know, just based on their looks basic descriptions. Sure, I can't relate to a female warrior, but I can relate to a guy who hails from a powerful vampire killing lineage. I can relate to being the ONLY person able to wield a magical whip and relate to fighting vampires.

It's just like in Final Fantasy when people say, "Oh yeah, I can soooo relate to Sephiroth". No you can't. you aren't silver-haired, you aren't part alien and you weren't born through a scientific expierment and was raised your whole life as a cold emotionless SOLDIER. You aren't a Legendary SOLDIER...fool, get off it! Just like the idiots who say, "Oh yeah, if Sephiroth was real, we'd be pals!". No you wouldn't, he'd kill you, moron!!

In all seriousness, I could relate to any gender. It doesn't have to do with being male or female. If the character is good, if they show emotion, up to the point where they ARE relatable("I know what they are feeling, I lost a parent....I know what they are feeling, I got into a fight with my best friend...") on a human-level. For that, gender doesn't discriminate, you can be a guy playing as a female heroine, and something happens to her that happened to you and you can still draw that connection.

For me, it's never been a deal, actually. Sure, I like playing as guys, but I'd be lying if I said Chun Li wasn't my favorite fighter in Street Fighter II(I always play as her).

Though, the only exception I have when it comes to female heroines is that they can't be fruity. If a female character becomes overly mushy, lovelorn and boy-crazy, that's where I draw the line. Even in real life, I can't really handle those squealing chicks who melt over, like, Tiger Beat and boybands. Urgh. But then again, those types of female characters are almost never the leads. They are almost always supporting secondary characters who fall in love with the male leads. It always takes a strong character to be the main character, and as long as the female heroine is strong and is determined to her cause(doesn't let shoujo-styled love get in her way), that's a relatable quality in itself that shows no gender bias. But if it's "OMG, he's SOOOOOOOOO cute!!! *swoon*" type of stuff, no thank you. That and no chick drama. That's one of the big issues of Inu-Yasha, which has to be one of the most CHICK-ish animes I've ever seen(it reminds me of the anime equivalent of the Gilmore Girls).

GEE, IT SURE IT SEXIST IN HERE!

Anyway, stupid question time: is it all original music featured in the trailer, or are there remixes I'm just not identifying?

Hey! Gilmore Girls was awesome for the first few seasons, buddy, and even it's later seasons were miles ahead of Inu-Yasha. >:(

Any story worth its wait in shit has characters that are displayed in a human manner.  Stories are written for people to relate to.  That's why Spider Man has been running for 60 years.  No one has spider powers, but they CAN RELATE to Peter Parker's life and situations.

I would say the general conclusion that males are superior for combat is a result of history not letting females have a go at it. They were largely forced into submissive roles, and usually due to religion. Even still today... But times are changing.

Anyway...

OMG! We need to drop this already. Get back to OoE.

Serio, I think a lot of those are just drawings they move around screen. If you're talking about her hair and where she raises her head, that might be 3D. But it's more likely Flash, or that they just cut pieces from her hair in the picture and moved them around like segmented sprites. It doesn't look to me like cel-shading at all.

Also, while this is probably the actual opening, we don't know for sure; could have just been thrown together for this first demo's reveal.

Now that people mention it, the rooms do look a little flat, ala, POR. Again, this might have to do with jsut how dependent Shanoa is on her magnes glyph.

Some parts of the cave look... sigh... HOD-ish, but I also saw some good parts that had like triple paralax, like SOTN's.

I want to know what those spotlights are too. At first I thought the enemies glowed, but I see those lights moving seperate from them.

yeah that's possible. i know pork's entire intro was cel shaded 3d, but this one seems to be flash based except the initial animation which differed in style a bit.

Okay, I didn't want to get involved with this argument, but I disagree- religion and social expectations evolved as a RESULT of women's inferiority in combat, not the other way around.

Regarding sexism- sexist expectations in our society exist. It sucks, but you'll have to deal with it until they go away.

...and about OoE: Guys, you gotta remember that there's a reason why it may be delayed to 09. They're putting a lot of work into this. Unless they're working on that rumored Wii game right now or something, much of this will be improved.

...come to think of it that is a legitimate concern. Dividing development time between these two projects could totally ruin Order of Ecclesia.

Where are people getting this idea that it will be delayed? It's slated for August in Japan. Release date has been set. Castlevania is also not a series accustomed to delays... leave that to Nintendo's stuff.

The game is far enough along from what I see. I don't think any development switch will 'totally ruin it'; as many have said the ESRB already rated it. That means they have enough to go on to be confident that nothing drastic is going to change before release.

I would think a different team would be set up for the Wii title, whatever the hell that turns out to be. It's possibly not a full game anyways... or a game at all.

I remember reading that IGA said that there's a potential for a delay into 09. I could always go dig up the article.

I disagree- so far I see a lot of lazy spritework that needs to be drastically changed for me to really respect it. Some of it looks good enough, like the pirate ship, but some areas really need work before it's presentable. If it's not coming out until Fall, things are going to change, yes?

I know, but if it did turn out to be a full game, I'd be worried about the effect it will have on OoE.
