buying God of War PSP

I am sure most people know of this already http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=71442.
So yeah after owning a DS Lite and putting off on buying a PSP for all this time I am buying one.  Once Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core and God of War hit I started to crack.  Then I saw that God of War PSP over on David Jaffe's blog and just was like "holy hell I need one now".  I almost went and bought the  Star Wars one back when it was first released but I resisted.  So far I am looking at buying Dracula X Chronicles despite some sayings its awesome and others saying it sucks.  Oh yeah about the memory sticks?  How much do you really need for a PSP or what would you people recommend for it?  I wouldn't want to buy a 4 gig and never use half of it.

Dracula X Chronicles is awesome.  :P It has RoB and SotN as bonuses too, so it's a great deal, especially if you're a Castlevania fan, which of course you are. Seeing that this is a CV forum.

As for memory sticks.. Since you're going to buy the games anyway, you won't need much.  ;D Big memory sticks are usually for those who *cough*playpiratedISO's*cough* but since you will buy the UMD games, there won't really be a need for you to play the ISO's unless you rip it from the UMD's for reasons such as saving battery power, not having to lug the UMD's along, etc. For now I'm going to assume you won't be playing ISO's.

The main thing is to figure out how much you're planning to use the picture, video and mp3 capabilities of the PSP. If you're planning to use the music player a lot, 1-2gigs is recommended. If you're going to use the video AND the music player, then get 4 gigs.  ;D If you're not planning to use those capabilities at all, then just get a small memory stick for your saves.

The above is just my opinion based on my experience of owning a PSP. I'm not sure if I've covered all the bases, and the decision is still up to you. ;D

As for meory sticks, I would say a 1 or 2 gb size one is needed since you can do other things with the stick besides putting illegal games on it.  When I had a 1 gb meomry stick, it filled very quickly with psp demos, fansubbed animes, and mp3s which I legally owned.

If you have a ps3, you can also purchase and download psp and ps1 games for your handheld device.  So you may need a memory stick at least 1 gb

anyone who says dxc sucks, probably never played anything in the series before symphony of the night. if you're the same, but you're at least open to a challenge(and really it is one of the easier, if not the easiest, of the oldschool platformer types), then the rondo of blood remake won't be so bad for you. if you have played and enjoyed castlevania 3 and bloodlines, you should love rondo. especially since the remake has all sorts of stuff you can look for throughout.

crisis core - if you're a fan of final fantasy, don't go into this expecting more of the same. in fact, i think it generally disappoints anyone who enjoys final fantasy's usual gameplay.

god of war - pretty much the same as anything else in the series you've played before, just apparently shorter. not everyone likes it, but you might look into ghost rider as well. it's said to play the same way.

other reccomendations:
non exclusives:
puzzle quest - addicting as hell, if you enjoy rpgs and bejeweled type puzzles
valkyrie profile: lenneth - same as the psx game, just with 3d rendered fmvs.
x-men legends 2/marvel ultimate alliance - same as the console counterparts, only i think x-men is missing online play, but both games have exclusive characters
marvel trading card game - guess you'd have to enjoy card games in general, but it's still a good strategy game that tends to involve cards of obscure favorite characters.
warriors orochi - like the console versions, just graphically inferior, and has comic style cut scenes. avoid the other koei warrior series', unless you don't mind a more board game/strategy-ish style.
sid meier's pirates - basically gta on the open seas
megaman power up & megaman maverick hunter x - 2.5d remakes of the first games in the megaman series'(counting x as a different series)
ultimate ghosts n goblins - 2.5d game in this series

exclusives:
brave story - excellent rpg, and this is coming from someone who generally hates the random/turn based combination, which it has
jeanne d'arc & wild arms xf - normally i don't care for srpgs, but these 2 are pretty good
exit - puzzle game, based on getting people out of dangerous situations
monster hunter freedom/2 - not my type of thing, but people are really into it, so i dunno
guilty gear judgment - has one of the fighting games, and a beat em up
sonic rivals/2 -racing, but despite the racing aspect, feels like an oldschool sonic game
metal gear ac!d/2 -card stealth games, works out oddly enough
metal gear portable ops - normal metal gear stealth game
crush - puzzle game that allows you to switch between a 3d view and 2d one on the fly
dead head fred - gory platforming/brawling involving switching heads for various situations as needed

it really is an excellent handheld. as for the memory stick, whatever size you get, if you fill it, remember you can always use a pc as a backup hard drive.

Warriors Orochi is a combination of Dynasty Warriors, and Samurai Warriors. Two different franchises in the Koei Warriors series. I have the PC version of the game and it's really lots of fun. Many many unlockables. Give it a try.
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow sucks

i know that, but the actual dynasty/samurai games on the psp itself, are as i described. i didn't mean to imply the entirety of those series, just the psp ones.

As for those who say DXC suck, they are the type of gamers who haven't played Castlevania before SOTN.  If you read their reviews, most of the complaints stemmed from the fact that the game is linear and that it is very difficult.

If you haven't played the old CV games before, they aren't that hard as long as you played games during the nes and SNES era especially those like Super Mario and Actraiser; with new technology and new innovations, video games have been a lot easier in the past few years.

For instance, after the the first Metroidvania, the CV series has been easier because of the usage of different weapons and powerups.

So you should not take the naysayer's comment too seriously until you played DXC.
