Straight video game midis would be horrible. Orchestral arrangements of classic CV tunes would rock. Or even go for the RoB approach, infusing some rock and jazz to the mix. No big named bands. I don't wanna see Evanescence make a song for the movie, but you know people would like it, cause, Evanescence's songs are soooooooooo good for vampire-related movies! ::)

I just wouldn't want the soundtrack to sound too filmscore like. I'm tired of that sound, because I've seen very little personality in it lately (save for Hans Zimmer's stuff).

I think some Dracula Battle Perfect Selection-esque hard-rock anthems are in order :D

I think the main themes of the first 5 games is a must, at least in some form (that meaning, CV 1, 2, 3, SCV4, DX:R). Overall, I would like it to have the finesse of SOTN's score, but the power of COD's.

Also, there has to be a scene where we eagerly await the drawbridge falling open and the protagonist walking unecessarily slow towards.

That's what I mean! How awesome would it be to begin with a view of Simon dashing through through forest, jumping over the closing drawbridge, and rushing through the closing doors, Alucard-style, all the while the Dracula Batle version of "Beginning" is playing?

Why do all of you pick the unlikely things to be in castlevania?

Here's what should be done

Simon Belmont to be played as Milla and the name Simon changed to Simone for a more femalish name.

Dracula is human in the beginning but gets injected with some vampire-like serum and develops another serum to make his monsters come to life.

Whip (Vampire Killer) replaced by a Sword called Monster Mash.

The theme of the movie will be plain anime than it is gothic.

The soundtrack to the movie won't include anything from the video game's soundtracks but will have some heavy metal/gothic bands in it.

Jason Statham will play as Bjork and Christopher Belmont at the same time.

There will be shit loads of Belmonts in one time period.

Phil Lamarr will play as dracula.

Phil Lamarr will play as dracula.

What's wrong with that?  ;D

I vote Lavar Burton for Shaft!

Well
He does the voice for Vamp in msgs2 & 4.
SO I thought it would be cool if he were to get a makeover to become white pale, have a beard, and long white hair.

Any music straight from the game would seem too out of place. They made that mistake with FFVII: Advent Children. With the exception of the first scene with Cloud on the motorcycle, the score never "changed" along with the scenery.

It's important that music set the tone, not just be there because it sounds cool. Just getting quieter and louder but not changing the overall ambiance in a scene is boring and lazy.

Get a real music score in that's an adaptation of Castlevania music, and make it fitting for the period the movie is set in. Hard rock and guitars in a movie about the 16-1700s is horrid.

I think they should hire Wojciech Kilar to do the music.  He could expand on what he did for Brahm Stoker's Dracula.  Although if he did a slow haunting remix of Bloody Tears I would be cool with that.

As for other things, have the action serve the story and not the other way around.  If it is set in a specific time period please have the sets and props seem realistic and appropriate (no automatic multibolt cross bows a la Van Helsing).

Lastly, focus on a damn good story.  You have a chance to reinvent the battle against the greatest vampire since Nosferatu so please no wolfman, or Frankenstien or insert cheesey monster here.  Yes he can control legions of the undead, change into mist, wolves, bats. but also ground the film in reality, so that while Dracula has supernatural powers, have the hero be grounded in reality so that the battle is that much harder and more satisfing.

Cheers,

David

Well it's gotta have the Belmonts. And, no they are not grounded in reality, and are said to have super-hero like powers and strength.

Although lately it seems any CV character possesses these.

a movie about vampires/undead grounded in reality? that's about as dumb as trying to ground super heroes into reality...oh wait...

seriously, it's a fictional world overall, why make it realistic?

i just hope if it is simon, he's got something more akin to original design. i'd do one of those noose signature things with the redesign myself...
