Yeah that poster is like, a year or two old. It was a (very) preliminary advertisement for the movie.

it should just focus on a Belmont and the whip entering
and trying to survive a castle on their way to kill the
vampire.

they should bring along other vampire hunters as canon fodder so the audience sees how dangerous the castle is
(traps, monsters, bosses, puzzles, etc.)

if it totally focuses on the castle from the get go then
it may be 2 hours well spent.  otherwise if it takes place
in some town and General Hospital-type drama going on before
finally going to the castle, then the castle will feel short and rushed like that other modern movie with dracula, werewolf, vampiresses/succubuses etc.

You mean Van Helsing? I hate that shit. What have they done to my poor poor, dear dear Professor Doctor Abraham van Helsing? Stoker would have turned over in his grave. He would have turned over again if he had seen what they did to Drac, so he'd be in his original position again.

What??!!! That movie was awesome!!
...I think.. my DVD started freezing half way through, so I didn't see the end. But still, who doesn't love any vampire hunting movie?

No, but I saw the movie, and yes, it screws around with it totally, but at least it had some good monster-slaying action.

Van Hellsing was bleh. Decent movie to watch on a lazy weekend night, though, but I wouldn't go out of my way to see it.

A CV movie should be like Haunted Castle- cheesy and filled with 30's monster mash and Conan references, with over-the-top action. But hey, that's just me.

To me that goes to all films other than Star Wars 4-6. :o

@13: Read it, goddamnit. How can you be a real CV fan without knowing the story about Drac? Besides, it's a really good book. I enjoyed it. I even bought it on english to read the original text.

Neither did I. I happened to see it at an Antique shop for a few bucks so I just bought it. I like just about any vampire movie.

Oh, and erimocard, that's not possible. I have a bit of a problem with reading: I read chapter one and then fall asleep. Was the early '90's movie accurate to the story? Because that's the one I saw.

You mean the one where a bunch of thieves break into a hi-security museum and accidentally set Dracs power free? That film, and also part 2 and 3 were shown at TV yesterday and the two days before in germany on pro7. I totally watched them. Great crap. I generally watch TV for teh lol.

@13: Not really. Though almost all of the characters were in it. There were some great changes.

Never heard of it.

Maybe I'll have to read the book then.

Dracula 2000(Wes Craven Presents Dracula 2000, though Craven really had nothing to do with it) was stupid, yet interesting. Stupidity lies in all the modern pop culture references there to make this movie appeal to MTV-kiddies. OMG, look, a Virgin Record store!!! Look, it's Hyde from That 70s Show!!! The whole bit about Epps and his crew of theives being these wannabe badass trenchcoat wearing guys was stupid stupid STUPID! I'm so sick and tired of all these modern movies and their wannabe badasses. WTF is that? The actual Dracula aspect was a little more interesting and more CV-like by having Dracula's origins NOT being that of Vlad Tepes. Also, I kinda got a CV flash when the dude opened the bible and the pages flew out and attacked Dracula, burning him. Other than that, the New Orleans setting was bad and just yet another excuse so that we can see pointless boobs at Mardi Gras. Oh yeah, the music chewed as well! That whole scene in the beginning where it's basically just a collage of people partying during Mardi Gras and the rock music is playing(I haven't seen it in a while, though it might be Linkin Park), urgh, I never wanted to destroy my generation more than when I saw that.

Have you seen part 2 and 3 (Legacy)? There a vampire hunter shows up. And guess what weapon he wields. :3

Yeah, right, it's a whip.

@13: Read it, goddamnit. How can you be a real CV fan without knowing the story about Drac?

Yeah, because that book is teh OMGZ TRUE story of Dracula -- pffft. It shall be the literary standard that anything having remotely to do with Dracula shall uphold.

Fuck that. I don't need to read some stupid fairy tale bullshit to enjoy my favorite game series. I am no less a fan than you for not having read it because it has no bearing on how much fun I have with the series and it's core gameplay.

Castlevania is it's own beast; it's own representation of the myth of Vlad Tepes. I only remotely care about how the Morrisses tie in, because they were forced in the story in first place. Now I only wish that unecessary hole be plugged up and the series move on. (OOOH! Yay! We got Jonathan out of it too!)
