Title: Will Soma ever be back?
Post by: xdiesp on February 24, 2011, 08:34:09 AM
Do you think Soma Cruz will ever be featured in another game?
Castlevania: Lament of Sorrow, Castlevania: Curse of Sorrow, Castlevania: Sorrow of Sorrow?
I, for one, still root for the character and hope for another present-day CV.

I hope so. He is one of my favorite characters.

I'd like to see him a more time, so it would be the Sorrow Trilogy. A game in which he would become Dracula or finally get off the dark power of him. Master of Sorrow maybe?

A game in which he would become Dracula or finally get off the dark power of him.

Soma will never find a way to rid himself of the Dark powers because it was he whom created those powers to begin with. Soma's soul is that of Dracula. Dracula was reborn as Soma Cruz. Trying to segregate a part of yourself is impossible due to the nature of the soul so Soma, like it or not, is stuck with that power. But like Yoko said in AoS, it's more like a weapon. The user decides if its purpose is for good or evil.

I think I wouldn't mind another game with Soma in it. The only thing that I would like to see in it would be a much better and more solid story then what we got in DoS. Also the game could use a better title then constantly reusing the 'sorrow' part. An no more using souls to make weapons. That slowed the game down way too painfully for me. I'd rather just find them or buy them.

I think it'd be more interesting to see what happens to Dracula's soul AFTER Soma dies. Would he be reincarnated again? What if Soma eventually has children, what of their fate?  ???

Agreed.  I believe someone is translating a CV novel in the "fan stuff" area of this forum.  While I don't know much about it, it could be cool if it was made into a game.
Aside from Alucard, Soma is my favorite CV character on the side of good.  I just don't like the fact that he becomes absolutely defenseless once he is out of danger.  He needs to find a way to retain some of the abilities he absorbs so that he can protect himself and Mina.  I mean Arikado/Alucard, Yoko, and Julius can't be around to protect them 24/7.  I would also like to see Death with a larger role other than just being another boss.  I mean if he is as high up on the food chain as we are told, he should at least realize that there is something about Soma.  I mean from what I've heard, in the novel, Death approaches Soma and he knows who he is.

I think it'd be more interesting to see what happens to Dracula's soul AFTER Soma dies. Would he be reincarnated again? What if Soma eventually has children, what of their fate?  ???
This would be interesting too.

How about Soma literally battling an alternate\future self? I have this idea of a wasteland transylvania completely devoid of human life after centuries of draculian domination.

I found Soma's general behaviors incredibly annoying and hope he doesn't come back.

Oldschool dracula: GTFO!
Soma dracula: But but but why?
Oldschool dracula: /KICK!

I'd be fine if he came back if they finally let his story progress (and end it). What was the point of Dawn's plot? Nothing happened.

I love both AoS and DoS and thought Soma was cool as well, but I'd love to see Drac's power consume his humanity. It'd be a nice little twist.

I want to see a game where Soma is around Julius's age (50+) so he has a badass goatee and none of the dumbass romantic anime antics that plagued the Sorrow games.

Castlevania: 3rD Sorrow (Nintendo 3DS)
(Someone mentioned that very title in another thread. It fits.)

Plot:
Dunno. All I know is that it should end similarily to Alien 3. Soma realizes that the only way to end the evil is to kill himself. The soul of Dracula will then sort of...dunno... leave his body and someone (Arikado or whoever) will absorb the soul into some kind of... thingie. A RANDOM MAGIC STONE maybe. The Crimson Stone? I hardly remember what the crimson stone did cause I don't pay attention to storylines in Castlevania games. But anyway. Soma must die.

Seconded. Aria was a great end. it was perfectly written and paced, and the "you are Dracula" thing was revealed SO well. Come on. This tune... In that scene... Is epic and you know it.

Dracula's Fate - Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yVtEaZMOULQ#)

(Hey there Jorge! XD)

Honestly, no Sorrow game can ever top Aria, unless they were to ever remake Aria itself with better graphics, updated music, and more Ayami art. (and this time, WITHOUT Hammer and Julius looking like long lost brothers)

Dawn of sorrow's plot was terrible. it, along with the anime look, was just like reviewers said. "down to the level of Saturday morning anime" Soma is nothing more than an afterthought in this. in Aria, the game revolved around him. He was trapped in the castle and Alucard told him the way out. in Dawn... we have a cliche saturday morning villain with the cliche hothead henchman and the cliche gay "smart and stylish" henchman.
She could fucking TELEPORT, and all the while laughing that horribly generic evil laughter.

Final boss was pathetic too. At least Chaos was plot relevant. You could remove Dawn from the timeline and nothing would be lost. A few of the character designs suffered as a result too. Soma himself comes to mind. They trashed his oh-so-70's awesome look for something more "futuristic" looking. his original design IMO gave him a more regal air, what with that fur trim and all.

Julius looked cooler in AoS too. Just opinion there though, since I thought he looked badass in those red pants.

He was nerfed though in Dawn. he was much more badass in Aria. in Dawn they just passed him off more as an afterthought. A vampire hunter past his prime. Whereas in Aria, he was clearly still IN his prime. I mean When you look at that Holy cross, and see it RIPPING CHUNKS OFF OF THE CASTLE, yeah. He's still got it. And that was him HOLDING BACK. Imagine if he went all out? Screw fighting Chaos, he could have pulled the castle itself out of the sky.

If anything, they could try and fix Soma up with a better story. Why not make him a Vampire Hunter along with Julius and crew? I mean he HAS the power and determination for it, and what better hunter than the reincarnation of Dracula himself?

But they would never do that. :P

And in fact, i hope they dont. Leave Soma as is. His story was just fine with Aria. Dawn was already unessecary.

So Soma is hunting himself? lol

I don't know about the rest of you, but to me, Soma IS Dracula.

The two are the one and the same.

But I agree. Aria was just simply a masterpiece while Dawn was just a plain trainwreck when it came to plot and art direction.

Soma's background being what it is, I don't see why they wouldn't make a game in which two plot arcs are in the game, 'Moon' and 'Sun'.

In the 'Moon' plot arc, Soma has been overtaken by Dracula's memory, and the object is to get to the throne room so you can claim the power of the castle.

In the 'Sun' arc, Soma and company have found some way of dealing with Dracula's Memory and are on a mission to do so, also needing Soma in the throne room.

I see the conclusion being some form of stoker-esq 'Oh god I'm a vampiya and I'm dyin erg erg erg' dialog as the sun rises. At least for the 'Moon' plot arc.

Not sure what the other ending would be.

Hmm, I don't really know.  I wouldn't mind seeing him again if it was done right.  Dawn of Sorrow really missed key opportunities with the guy, because it basically didn't do anything to further the character or his story.  If the guy doesn't turn bad and go Dracula, I don't really see any point in having him again, though, unless he's just a supporting character.

DoS was pointless.  It should have ended with AoS.  Soma even says at the end of AoS that "the power is no longer evil."  Meaning that defeating the chaos freed him from it.  Thus, he wouldn't have to worry about it anymore and the power would just be in a dormant state for the rest of his life.  It should have ended there.

Short of a remake of DoS that is overhalled to the point that the story is completely different and actually advances the overall storyline, there shouldn't be anymore Sorrow games and the original DoS should be removed from the cannon.

In DoS defense, I must say it's a better game than AoS. In my opinion, of course.
The lame story and crappy artwork is one thing, but the gameplay and castle design was better in my opinion.
But yeah, AoS pretty much said everything there was to say about Soma. Still, I wouldn't want to have DoS unplayed. Because I liked it.

They should have just updated AoS and re-released it on the DS. Without the anime-style drawing of course and possibly a larger castle.

I thought the good thing about AoS was how lean the castle is.
Well, while still upholding a bunch of minuscule neat gimmicks and details.

On the 3DS, and add a prologue that takes place in 1999(like in SotN with Richter) where you play as Julius entering the keep and battling Dracula for the last time. Might be the ONLY chance we get to come close to the Demon Castle Wars in game form.

They should just go with the Julius ending in DoS. Heck even better make a game kind of like Julius mode but with more plot, more talking, more sub weapons and upgrades, and Hammer in it climbing walls and throwing knifes(or shooting people). Then at the end have Soma be the final bad guy and thus you have a new Soma game.
Title: Re: Will Soma ever be back?
Post by: K.G. Morder on February 26, 2011, 01:04:52 AM
Yeah, Julius mode In Dawn was far more interesting than the actual story. Thats a BAD thing. When the bonus is more interesting and done better than the main game.

I agree with Blue Successor if they absolutely MUST make more modern day vanias with Soma, then make him a supporting character. Hell, why not make JULIUS the main character. Soma can be the character Julius was in Aria an Dawn, that does a few awesome things, appears here and there, and eventually can be unlocked as a bonus mode.

I can accept never having a Demon castle wars game If they were to give Julius A game at all. And his intro stage theme MUST be Heart of Fire.

BTW, slight detour- Anyone else think it would be pretty cool if we could play as Alucard as Arikado? He might very well play exactly the same, but I think it'd be neat.

Given Julius's personality and dialog, my suggestion for his theme would be Dance of Holy Man (otherwise known as Simon's Theme).

Arikado is the weaker form of Alucard. While Alucard is the full power of Arikado unleashed. I have no idea why DoS did this in the story. It just doesn't make any sense. A person's name or disguise has no real bearings on the amount of power someone has. This just proves to be another one of IGA's nonessential plot devices that just didn't work cause it didn't make sense. It works in some anime that I've seen, but not here and certainly not for a Dampyre of Alucard's caliber.

For me, Dawn of Sorrow has better bosses on the whole, and a much better extra mode, but aside from those features, I can't think of anything I liked better at all.  Heck, I even think the graphics of Aria of Sorrow look considerably nicer.  Collectively, the environments are simply more interesting in concept and execution.  I guess that's all beside the point, given the topic, but unfortunately, that game didn't have any saving grace for me.  I even think Curse of Darkness and Lament of Innocence have great to excellent soundtracks, nice cut scenes, and intriguing characters, despite them basically sucking, in my opinion, but with DoS, it's like one bad thing piled on top of another without enough good to make me think any remotely fond thoughts about it . . . likewise with Portrait of Ruin, for whatever that's worth.

yeah, and mind you, its only Dawn that started that. In Aria, nobody was the wiser. You saw this dude and thought, damn, hes still got it. Hell, he even uses soul steal in the beginning. In Aria, it was merely a disguise to blend in. Then Dawn introduced that BS thing about his powers being sealed while as Arikado. And I >:| 'd

Well, think about it.  When you think of Alucard, you probably see as he was in SotN.  Can you really think of him in a modern suit?  I really have trouble with such a thought.  It's even worse when I try thinking of him in jeans and a regular shirt.  I mean he seems more suited for this SotN garb.  That's just my opinion though.

Back on topic, if another game with Soma is make, I think that he should only be a supporting character.  I'm actually all for a game that is AoS but from a different perspective.  Namely Alucard's, Yoko's, and/or Julius's.  I mean at the beginning of the game when he tells Soma to go to the Throne room, Alucard says that he (alucard) too has things he must do in the castle.  The fact is that we don't know what those things are.  Plus, we don't know what Julius (who has amnesia at this point) is up to.  That being said, I think a game from they're perspectives during the events of AoS would be cool.

No, I think they were just lazy. What nagged me more is that they didn't even make the sprite as smoothly animated as in SoTN and they gave him a stupid outline.

I would lend my talents to such a fan game.

Regarding Alucard, Soma, and Julius, what if the game were to be a multi-character switching platformer (like CV3) but you switch between Julius and Alucard, advancing them both independently? [that is, they are not a single party but rather two independent operators] I would play such a game, and Soma could feature in it, as could Yoko. Though I see a potential difficulty of having to save two different files to keep from accidently doing something wrong and therefore getting a game over. In such a game it would be possible to lock certain areas till appropriate levels are reached by requiring Alucard to push one switch, Julius to push one switch, and then both to go to the same room and activate something. Or the like.

I could care less if they make another Soma game.  IMO the Belmonts need to come back into the spotlight, this time with actual story and character development.  The thing about most of the Belmonts is that I feel I know nothing about them other then they're the next Belmont....  I'm really starting to get sick of all these side characters being the focus of the series.

Or, they could do what Square-Enix did with Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep.  Essentially, you give each playable character their own story and the individual stories together create one overall story with some overlapping points like where the characters encounter each other.

Why thank you, but I fear such a game will be too good that Konami will hurl a C&D letter at us. ;_;

While I agree that the franchise needs a new Belmont-centric game badly, I'd prefer if they don't make a stereotypical Belmont. (i.e. have Vampire Killer, dutifully kills Dracula, on the side of absolute good, etc.)

While I don't exactly know the better alternative, a Belmont who wishes to deny his heritage might be good. (denial -> reluctance -> acceptance -> conflict -> triumph)

I was thinking maybe you could play as a Belmont during the period they lost the whip.  No one really knows what happened to the family during this period and it could fill in kind of a huge gap in the storyline.

It is a Fan game. The way I see it, if no money whatsoever is exchanged, and it is placed in a totally free medium, Konami can't throw a C&D letter at us. Why would they? This is a -fan game-. That means no money at all will be spent on it and, it attracts attention to their classic castlevania games. They benefit more from -not- sending us a C&D. Though I do have 10 lawyers on speed dial on my phone.

Regarding a Belmont denying his heritage, I would counter with the idea that what if a belmont did not KNOW her heritage? A belmont that didn't know they were a belmont and found themselves sucked into draculas yawning vortex of evilly darkly black and deadly deadliness of maliciously evil evilness?

Let's say we release a Metroidvania fan-game on a 3DS homebrew.

And it's actually as fun as the last three Metroidvanias.

And IGA finds out about this game, realizes that it is on par with the next game they are working on.

The official dev team will be under pressure to produce a game that is at the very least, better than ours.

And everyone does not like extra workloads.

If I was in charge of Konami, I would find whatever means necessary to take that game down.

Or take the Valve approach and quickly hire the fan-game developers under my dev team. (But this won't likely happen.)

Who said I was against the idea.

I want to do it SO BAD. ;_;

But enough of this, back to topic.

Out of curiousity, why do you Soma-haters hate Soma so much?

I'm not trying to pull an aggro here or anything.

I'm just curious. :3

I don't hate him, I just think there are much better and more important things to focus on in the CV games to come.  Soma had 2 games, I think his story has been told and the focus of the series should go to some of the more obscure periods not yet covered.

I got confused for a moment regarding your feelings on it, I posted that before I saw the message. Sent you a reply by the way.

Back on topic.

I'm not against soma, but I do not care for androgynous men characters. I grew up in the 80s and as a kid my favorite cartoons were GI Joe, He Man, Captain N, and Thundercats. And Ultura-Man-ooooo! Who can forget ultraman.

I think part of the reason I suddenly became interested in your game is because its sort of a way for me to 'write him out' of the storyline.

I also think that some of the more obscure periods would clearly work as settings, crims0n.

I feel the exact same way!!! I don't mind side characters but Belmonts should be the main focus. Give me more Belmont please!

Julius is bit too old to be a main character, imo.

Theres no such thing as a Belmont being too old. Ever play julius mode in Aria? or just plain fight him? Even after so many years of amnesia, he was STILL able to fight Soma with all his abilities and powers, and that was holding back. He lost to Soma because he wasnt fighting to kill.

In any case, he is awesome BECAUSE he is a middle aged man. With an awesome beard. He breaks the tradition of pretty boy bishounens.

Now I'm curious as to what system that game's for.

I'm not against soma, but I do not care for androgynous men characters

I'm also not a real fan of those types either. I much preferred Soma's DoS look over his Emo/androgynous AoS look. If I were Dracula reincarnated, I wouldn't be caught undead or alive wearing the AoS look. The only time in AoS where Soma looked cool was after he had become Dracula before setting out to defeat chaos. That look was cool. It is unfortunate that it had the opposite effect in DoS. That version didn't look as cool and I don't believe it had anything to do with the art style either. I just think the artist didn't put in the effort to making Soma's Dracula transformation look as good as Ayami did.

Well, I didn't like Aria of Sorrow that much. I can't really put my finger on it, but I felt Dawn improved just about everything (except the story, artwork and music. Which may sound like a whole lotta things, but I honestly don't think the story is any good in any of the Castlevania games, so it's not such a big deal for me. Also, I know literally nothing about anime so the artstyle didn't bother me either. I noticed it looked a little less "serious" and more japanese, that's all. I definitely prefer Ayami Kojima, but artwork doesn't make or break a game for me.

Now, the one thing I really loved in Aria was the music, so Dawn was kinda disappointing for me in that respect. Throughout the years I've learnt to like the music in DoS though, but it's far from a series hightlight IMO.

Anyway, most people seem to prefer Aria so I can't really argue with that. I just wholeheartedly disagree 100% :D As for Curse and Lament... not my cup of tea. Though Curse has excellent music!

No, I think they were just lazy. What nagged me more is that they didn't even make the sprite as smoothly animated as in SoTN and they gave him a stupid outline.
think it was a bit laziness mixed with "OMG, teh Alucard!! SoTN roxxors!!" SotN fanboy wanking. It's similar how Square Enix were milking FFVII.

I would not have minded it as much but I really did not like the change his hair underwent. it looked rather natural in Aria, and looked nice on him. Then Dawn changed his hair style, and made it look ridiculous. personally, I feel that his Aria look looked more regal. he had that fur trim big coat, likening him almost to Mathias in LoI.

That was probably intentional, and was a great idea to make him seem more like Dracula.

I personally adored the AoS artwork, really well done..and the modern illustration of Alucard was splendid, perfectly suited!

I would like to see Arikado as a secondary playable character after finishing the game, with all the abilites and special weapons represented in sotn(and just as overpowered, just for fun=).

I see no bad reason by IGA making Alucard holding back his real powers through his disguise...perhaps it is necessary to do this in order to hold back his evil vampiric instinct..?

Why the hell do people call Alucard, Arikado!? You act as if he's a whole fucking other person because he changed his outfit from a couple hundred years ago. You know his real name so call him by his real name.

I'm guessing it's just to distinguish between his forms. Like, Arikado = black hair/suit, Alucard = blonde hair/sup-I'm-a-vampire outfit.

True
But it goes the other way too. I think Arikado didn't trust Soma either. With someone like Graham going around pretending he's Dracula, i think it was natural for Arikado to be suspicious about Soma . And even if he told him who he was, maybe Soma wouldn't have been able to handle the truth that well, especially if he did it in the early parts of the game.Or maybe he didn't have the time to tell him the truth. He was prolly busy chasing after Graham, looking for Julius, and the castle is big.
Also it must feel awkward to tell a kid that he's your long lost father, who happens to be Dracula  ;D

I would pay such good money to see that, especially if they had their memories.

Draculina: So...

Oh yeah, that's it. It kinda makes you wonder about the storyline in Resurrection... What the heck were they going for? It seems like the game would've had two Draculas, one female and one male. Unless the female version is Dracula in disguise. Except it's a shitty disguise that wouldn't have fooled Sonia. Or maybe they had something completely different in mind. MAYBE Sonia would've faced the male Dracula, and Victor would've gone up against the female one, in their respective quests. Something like that.

One brief idea comes to mind that it might have been an element of the Bloodlines story. If I'm not badly mistaken, Bathory is linked to and or psychically controlled by dracula in that game. Which could theoretically result in her thinking she IS dracula. However, I'm not familiar with the storyline of the canceled game and therefore couldn't speculate further.

F-FFFFFFF x.o;; wtf wtf. That makes no sense at all! You can't just have canon be that Lisa was the only woman he ever loved (later past/future incarnations notwithstanding) and then turn around 3 years later and be like "Oh, wait, except this chick that he apparently liked enough to want to spend eternity with."

Rage and keysmashes, Konami ;.; </3

Besides, having someone like her as Dracula's love interest is just way too easy. It's expected that he'd end up with the "bloodthirsty Countess" type, which is why Lisa worked so well. Nobody would expect him to fall for some really sweet human lady that just wanted to help people. To me, it adds more to his character to see him with Lisa, especially given that they were married as long as they were and he never did make her a vampire. It's obvious that he loved her very genuinely, so having some other woman pop in all of a sudden is just mind-boggling @.@

I'm suddenly glad Resurrection was cut.

Also, yeah, I'm going to wholeheartedly agree on the taste issue >> Lisa's the bomb diggity.

Lady Dracula's one of the reasons I dislike Resurrection's art direction so much. Urgh!! If her bad 50s-sci-fi hair wasn't bad enough, she has to be wearing one of the most tackiest vamp chick costumes ever. Almost like the type of tacky costumes you see in the flyer papers Halloween stores send out every October(y'know, the stupid "Sexy Vampiress" costume that look ultra cheapo weepo).

I think it might have looked a lot better in the sketches, but I do agree that they could have put a bit more effort into the outfit (by, you know, actually giving her one). Also, what is up with the concave stomach?

I actually kinda like the whole 50s B-movie vampiress look.

Regarding the concave stomach, I'm under the impression, at least from what I've read of real world vampire lore, that the organs shrink and shrivel, causing the stomach to draw in tightly. Of course it's also said that a vampire while asleep is indistinguishable from a filthy, rotting corpse.

That sorta throws 'sexy' right off the castle balcony, doesn't it?

The Soma games were DEFINITELY awesome, but I'm inclined to think we've seen the last of him.  The Lords of Shadow game is classified as a series reboot, which when you think about it, they really needed.  The Castlevania timeline is kind of a mess, and they'd reached sort of a dead end with Soma.  Obviously they could've done more with him, but video game series can jump the shark too.
"Lords of Shadow" was actually the working title that game, in order to keep that they were making a new Castlevania game a secret, as not to take away from their release at the time, Castlevania Judgement.  All our beloved Belmonts are so important to us though, that I can see them appearing in the new Castlevania series in one form or another.

I don't think I'm against the B-movie angle as much as I am the fact that she isn't wearing a top. I like her hair to a degree, and the cape (though I like it better in the concept sketches back there because it looks sort of like flowy kimono sleeves). The skirt is nice, but it'd be better if it went to something.

LOL I guess nothin says lovin like a corpse for a husband!

Really though, that does make a lot of sense. I suppose it initially struck me more as the whole 'exaggerated body image' angle, given how the rest of her looks. That waist isn't even...what. That and, she kind of looks like she just had a really bad face lift.

I do like her ears, though. They may be the first pointy ears I've ever actually thought looked nice.

I meant asleep as in 'sun out unconscious'.

I can say from her ay-tire that the setting probably isn't Victorian England.

I'm confused. Is she a vampiress, or a werewolf? I looked up the Castlevania Wiki (again) and found this:
The small text says Ware Woolf(Werewolf) Female Dracula transform
And if you watch the trailer you can see her(i think it's her) transform.
What  i don't get is why  do they call her "Female Dracula"? And why is she dressed as a vampire if she's a Werewolf?
Maybe she likes Dracula's style too much  ;D

Grim Reaper: 'Why's his face like that boss?'
Dracula: 'Wouldn't your face be that way if my hand was up your keister that far?'
Grim Reaper: 'Err..... y... yeah boss...' -flies away-
Soma: 'THATS why I'm so uncomfortable!?! Fuuuuu-!'
Dracula: 'Silence. We have a 5 year olds birthday to do.'
Soma: 'Rooooiiiight.... how much am I getting for this gig?'

Is that your art Flame or no? Looks like Oekikai? (spelling?)

Hopefully my bad humor doesn't make my respectotron readout go downward.

They should have just have the bad ending in Dawn be canon. All that had to be done in order to work was:

Dimitri's deus ex machina
Mina's plot device charm
have Mina be killed for real to awaken Dracula's power
Then cut to Julius and co to hunt down the corrupted Soma and kill him till his resurrection in 100 years.

Knowing how IGA thinks, he'd never allow it.

I get how that would make a better story if you wanted to repeat the cycle, but I kind of like how Soma doesn't do that. I like the idea of Dracula finally catching a break for a little while and not being condemned to repeat the same mistake again.

Did he view his choice as a mistake? I would imagine that Dracula would be bitter at humanity up until the battle of '99. Maybe that's how Julius finally ends Dracula, by condemning him to resurrect in somebody else?

lol.

They want it to be canon because it was the ONLY part of Dawn that was actually good. Dawn's Julius mode makes a far better game than the actual game, sadly. Because the Story for Dawn is absolute crap. Plus for some damn reason, its cool to have Soma fall to the dark side. I mean, his bad ending in Aria was pretty sweet.
Title: Re: Will Soma ever be back?

Why not have someone else claim the power and have Soma fight the good fight?  For example, someone claims the power, Julius is too old to do anything, and Arikado/Alucard and Yoko can't fight this evil by themselves.  So, Alucard reveals his true form and tells Soma everything.  After which, he helps Soma truly awaken his power and train him so that he no longer has to be in danger to use it and will never loss the abilities he absorbs ever again.  Thus, the team now consists of Yoko, along with Soma and Alucard, who are both at their true full potential.

Im surprised Soma doesnt recognize Arikado as Alucard. He no doubt KNOWS who Alucard is, after he was awakened to the truth in the throne room, And he knows Arikado has supernatural powers himself, but he doesnt know he is Alucard.

Unless he DOESNT really have Dracula's memories... which is possible.

I think, in AoS, he recongnizes Arikado, just after the Graham battle, but I'm not sure.

Aria of Sorrow, Soma
Finally, I clearly understand everything. I am...Dracula! This is like a bad joke. Come on out, Arikado. I know you're here.

Dawn of Sorrow, Dmitrii
Have patience, Arikado. Or perhaps I should address you with your real name? When the boy began his dark transformation, I scanned memories of his past lives. Make one move, and the boy will die. You don't wish that, do you?

I think it would pretty terrible writing, even for the Castlevania series, to just undermine the impact of the Demon Castle Wars and AoS. Also, the world is bigger than Dracula, you know.

Don't count on it.
Not with IGA gone and the lame reboot going on, it's very unlikely.

It just doesn't feel like a traditional Castlevania to me.

But whoops, not gonna derail this thread anymore.

Your argument is completely invalid sir.

I think they should REBOOT the Sorrow saga, the original story is pretty nice but I think they pretty much screwed up DoS, it turned into a saturday morning cartoon; also, AoS will be soon 10 years old (!) so most people will not even know what is happening if they release the 3rd one. I think it needs a reboot made by a capable studio with storytelling abilities (not you Igarashi) because it's pretty intriguing what could be done with it. 2D would be nice too :)

But you know it could be BETTER, the orginal premise (Draula searching fro redemption in another life but still getting tempted) is awesome, bu you know the traditional (and with traditional I mean 12 years old traditionañ) Castlevania team a fine delivery  of that promise is very unlikely

for all we know DoS could've also been a pitch for a CV animated series, and you'd be lying if you say you wouldn't have watched it despite negative feedback or whatever!

I don't think they need to have the "Sorrow" games rebooted. They just need to remove 'Dawn' from the series and that should fix things just fine. But If they wanted to bring AoS up to par with it's console counterparts, then I've no problems with that. It would give them a chance to put in some more depth to the story and characters. Like Soma vs Death.

Really? was there a CV anime being planned? =O I would wake up sat 5am to watch it  ;D (Seriously!)
I think the last scene was greatly damaged, it was very impressive and somewhat shocking (Celia was CRUCIFIED in FLESH!!) but the overall anime spirit ruined it for me.

huh... its true, the castle IS bland. And that piano room has such wasted potential. Could have been a cool extra or puzzle or something.

The animu style was bland, (because PoR's was nice,) The castle was bland, and the story was... Well, bland. Saturday morning cartoon bland.

I also personally didnt like Soma's new look. Especially in the crappy animu style.

And maybe Im just nitpicking here, but many of the tunes were forgettable. Just a few stood out. Mainly The town's theme, The beginning, Bloody Tears, (one of the best Bloody tears ever IMO) the regular chapel theme... Illusory Dance, maybe a scant few more. (I was slightly disappoint by the lack of Heart of Fire, but eh, what can you do.)
