Considering the games themselves were bad regardless of the title, i highly doubt any sort of name change or disassociation with the castlevania series would've saved them from the mediocre scores they received

The games weren't all that bad, they just tried mixing a few different gamestyles (that did NOT mix). That doesn't stop them from being fun.
UPON THE COMPLETION OF ITS STATEMENT, THE BLOOD MONKEY LEAPS TOWARDS YOU, BARING TEETH. IT IS TOO LATE FOR YOU.

Well if you look at Lament of Innocence and Curse of Darkness, both of them seemed to tell you "brace yourselves, another episode will come", especially with that Germain guy travelling over time.

So maybe its the same thing for LoS 2, there is nothing to loose in teasing a posible next game that wont necessarily happen.

True. The series is littered with too many odds and ends sticking all over the place showing all the what-ifs that will never see the light of day. This franchise is either seriously mismanaged or has become too big to manage.

This is why I think that Castlevania should start doing self-contained stories, a la Final Fantasy or Namco Tales or what Zelda used to be. They could make a lot of different storylines that don't try to force their way into another story, and wind up being unnecessarily convoluted. And then a style change in one game won't feel as odd since the game isn't a sequel nor a prequel to another game (unless it did direct sequels a la Final Fantasy XIII-2 or Tales of Xillia 2).
