i know we've been practically spoiled with a new CV game almost every other year for the past 20 years.. but like the infamous crackheads of legend, i just need my fix man. you can only play the past games for so long, i need something new. when do you think we can expect Konami to reveal the next game? are there no events coming up anytime soon, Tokyo Game Show or something? if we go through 2015 with nothing, then i dont even know what to say

has IGA even thought of a name for his new company yet? so eager for a new metroidvania damnit

I wouldn't expect something outta IGA's new company for at least a year or two. As for Konami with Castlevania, now that MercurySteam is no longer at the helm, if there's nothing at TGS this year, then my guess would be to wait until next year's TGS. If there's nothing at that one, then I think at that point we can assume the series is on hold.

Funnily enough, Resident Evil is in the same predicament right now. Released a few games with that received some overall disdain, and now the future of that is uncertain, too.

And I've been itching for new games of both that and CV.

Regarding whether Castlevania's fate is up in the air right now, maybe it's just me, but I think it's telling how much coverage Castlevania still gets on the Facebook page. That's not how you treat an IP you want to lock away for several years. So I'm pretty confident they've got something down the pipeline already.

Castlevania is dead. David Cox and his team killed it. Forget your 1999 Julius Belmont finally putting an end to Dracula. David Cox did it himself.

Give it another year or two.

I'm pretty sure Castlevania will be in the hands of a new developer soon enough, or it already is.

I have a feeling Konami might chase after the idea of everyone saying Dark Souls is how you should make a 3D Castlevania. I want a new 2DVania for 3DS before then though.

EDIT: Hey look, it's my 1999 post.

Im sure we'll get something, be it a leak or an official announcement, about a new Castlevania around early/mid 2015. Right now Konami seems to be focused on MGSV(as if they have ANYTHING else to focus on nowadays that isn't Metal Gear related ).

Till then, we wait, It'll be a long one but hopefully the wait will be worth it.

I remember hearing that Resident Evil 7 was supposed to be shown at E3 this year but Capcom held off showing it at the last minute. It is in development though, there's still a chance it'll show up at the Tokyo Mobile Game Show.

Just as long as the next Castlevania game isn't a huge disappointment like LoS2 was, I'm set for whatever they give us.

And as for RE7, I've heard nothing that wasn't rumor. And that logo Capcom supposedly released (which was confirmed as a hoax) was pretty bad. It's like their "Resident Evil: Revelations 2" and "Resident Evil Outbreak: Tall Oaks" covers. lol

Tokyo Game Show 2014 comes on September 18.

Probably, there is no news at TGS, since the release date of Japanese version LoS2 is September 4.
I'm on hiatus now.

I have a feeling we'd see more Castlevania related stuff in Konami's numerous trading card games before we get a whiff of a major console/handheld release (that also includes IGA's version).

I think it's too early to expect a news about a newest Castlevania game, it's just 5 months since LOS2 was released remember? I think it's better to release a game more than 1 year or two as opposed to IGA's times which the series became more like an 'exploitation' in nature.

I think Konami had a somewhat 'Castlevania crisis' after Lords of Shadow 2. I can imagine they were stuck somewhat wondering what to do from here. It's obvious they needed to get a new team together now. They have a tough job on their hands to select someone who can get started on it and try to rekindle the flame of success that LoS started, and then LoS2 subsequently extinguished.

The delay may be more the process of getting a team together, and them coming up with anything resembling a meaningful prototype, or at least concept. That does take time, and I'm not surprised it's been a while since there's been Castlevania news. The franchise has proven it can work in 3D and be pretty wildly successful. To just up and start something at about the same fidelity as Lords of Shadow is going to take some time.

I don't think Konami is trying to bury the franchise. Just give them a little time to recover from LoS2 and get a new team together for the next big entry. If anything the long wait is likely an indication that we're getting another console game instead of a quickly produced portable.

Forget your 1999 Julius Belmont finally putting an end to Dracula. David Cox did it himself.

Haha, that really cracked me up.

It's pretty pointless to speculate about this, but they already knew MercurySteam was quitting two years, I'm no expert, but not taking that into account would be pretty bad planning on Konami's part. It would make sense to me, if they really are keeping the series alive, they already have a plan at the very least.

It's not really worth mentioning around here, but plans to release "Pachinko CR Akumajo Dracula" got leaked along with other things from KPE, two of which turned out to be legit already. Castlevania appears to be retaining its cash cow status.

i recall Bergaron mentioned back when LoS2 was hype that the next step in the series will be back in Japanese hands, and they already had "something" in the works, i think he even hinted at them continuing the los universe however that may be. could that mean outsourcing to another Japanese studio, or it's back in-house at Konami? or am i just remembering incorrectly

Didn't he say something about it possibly being an RPG?
