Hopefully there won't be a stupid cop out like Alucard killing Dracula instead of Trevor. In Rondo Alucard was still asleep so they have to have Richter end Dracula at least for that segment of the show.

Ah yes I can't wait for my dose of homoerotic sex scenes, cringe jokes and pseudo-political subversion

This is one of the few reasons I never watched the previous Netflix series. All in bad taste and Homo eroticism has since become one of the political calling cards of the WOKE movement  :P

No thanks.

To answer a few questions:

- Warren Ellis is not the writer. A British writer has taken over for him.
- Adi Shankar is not involved with this sequel series; seems like he lost his lawsuit to be involved in anything beyond the original series
- This is going to cover Rondo and SotN, according to the Netflix social media, so expect Alucard in some way or another
- Richter is looking like he's meant to look like a mash-up between Trevor and Sypha's designs
- It's set during the French Revolution, which is congruent with Rondo's timeline, though we have no idea if it plays a geopolitical part in the series

Makes me wonder if Shaft will be more of the bad guy focus this time?

I am optimistic because of the new writer. I have no idea what to expect from whoever takes over, but I'm excited to find out.

Faithful to the source material, good accurate character designs and straight forward story with decent side stories relevant the Castlevnia name and era. Are we finally gonna get a a good adaptation friends?
I highly doubt it but Richter looks good so I say it's a good start although his missing the bandana.

Well it's based from Ayami Kojima's design from Dracula X Chronicles where Richter doesn't have a bandanna, Same as Trevor.

Well I'm just Saying the Bandana is Iconic.

The first and the second point are a huge plus to the new show lmao, these guys are idiots one is a hypocrite pc writer and the other is a fanfic hack.
As for the designs I thought it looks like a mix between Trevor and Leon but it does look like Sypha and that's because of the art style it's kinda repetitive as most characters looks like color swaps.

I think it looks great! Looking forward to more CV on television, we are really lucky to be getting this. Hopefully there will be a new game coming in the near future, this animated series has introduced Castlevania to so many new people. I appreciate it very much! I would love a series with Soma later.

I think if this series is successful, its almost guaranteed the next spinoff will be with Soma. It would just make so much sense.

I think it looks okay, but the look of the show was probably the bit I had the least amount of issues with. It's all about the writing.

No Warren Ellis means no comic book writing packed to the gills with random profanity, but I'm not familiar with the work of the new writer to determine if he grasps the series and its tone. If it sounds like The Witcher with vampires again, it's another take that misses pretty strongly when it goes in that direction hard.

Definitely going to take a wait and see approach after fully watching the previous series.

I wasn’t a huge fan with some of the liberties taken but having a new writer makes me cautiously optimistic for how this can turn out. I’m a bit weary though, if this ends up being a continuation of the previous storyline considering where it ended.

Can't wait for more GoT with vampires, tasteless edgy swearing and unfunny jokes, pointless character race swaps, political agendas, boring fillers, one-dimensional original characters with no weight on the story, terrible audio mastering and generic soundtrack, sloppy animation, and overall misunderstanding and rape of the source material.

Call me a pessimist, but even without Ellis, I have no hope of it being any good. The first 4 seasons, where everything that could go wrong went wrong, left such a bad taste in my mouth, nothing related to this shitshow can make me feel excited. I still consider Netflixvania to be the worst thing that happened to the franchise (yes, even EROTIC VIOLENCE pachislot had more class and felt like Castlevania). And people call it the best video game adaptation, jeez.

They didn't care to even write the correct game names in the description: "Symphony of Night and Blood of Rondo"? Come on!
I'll give it a watch, but no way in hell I'm giving Netflix any money for this.

I want to hope. I really do. But Netflix isn't exactly a house of great repute when it comes to producing quality adaptations, and I've been hurt so much and so often by them (multiple times with this brand alone!). At this point my patience with Netflix has worn raw, and I doubt anything they promised would get me hyped because I've heard many such promises before. I want to hope and hype, but I'm simply too tired to make the attempt anymore.
How not to be a dark lord: the answer to that is a terribly interesting answer that involves an almost Jedi-like adherence to keeping oneself under control and finding ways to be true to yourself in a way that doesn't encourage the worst parts of you to become dangerously exaggerated and instead feeds your better nature. Also, protip: don't fuck with Alchemy or strike up any deals with ancient Japanese Shinigami gods no matter how tempting the deal or how suavely dressed the Shinigami is.

I'll give this one a chance. I was at least entertained by the previous seasons, despite all of the flaws. I mean, it felt like it had as much to do with the already-established Castlevania lore as Lords of Shadow did, but I didn't hate it, I guess. I just didn't know Warren Ellis was that much of an edgelord. Some of his comic stuff I've read in the past, like The Authority and his run on Moon Knight, weren't really like that. And I really liked The Authority.
It's like Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, but instead it's Who Wants Fried Chicken? I do.

Since we've been good, we're getting a peak of Maria for Christmas.

https://www.cbr.com/castlevania-nocturne-maria-renard-netflix/

Looks rather serious, which might fit the tone of the show better. I do hope they're not "too" serious and above using Maria for a little comic relief every now and then though.

It would be nice if they did keep Maria as a bit of comedy relief and remember that she's supposed to be a 12-y/o tween during Rondo. The games made her a bit of a joke character who just happens to be a glass cannon and even made it a point to highlight how hilarious it is that a young and kind of obnoxious girl had so much raw power within her. It made her growing up a bit and being a more competent hero in SotN more impactful I think, so I'm hoping Nocturne doesn't try to mature her too much too soon. The teaser image they dropped makes her already look like she's a teen despite appearing to be wearing her DXC outfit.

Guess we'll see. I don't expect this new series to debut much before summer 2023 and they may push it to Halloween season like the original.
