Exactly, but sadly most the people here think a games quality can be surmised by a handful of grainy digital camera photos.

Yeah, I admit, I was freaked out at first, but you never know. It might turn out really well! I like Soul Calibur and Soul Calibur 2, maybe Castlevania could do the same thing. It might be great, but then again, it might not.

I admit that when you let the idea sink for a day or two, it doesn't sound all bad. I just think everyone was expecting something different, or dare I say better...

I don't need clear photos to see that my favorite characters have been fucked-over.

They are no more changed than they have been in the past.  In fact the changes here are FAR less drastic than say...
Alucard from Cv3 to SoTN
Trevor from Cv3 to CoD
Simon from Cv to Chronicles
Richter from RoB to SoTN
Dracula, almost every game.

It's fine if you don't like the way they look, but saying that it is an indicator of the games quality is more than a little bit silly.

Not really, because it makes the game less fun when it doesn't feel like I'm playing the characters I'm supposed to be.

Also, I have to bring up again that Konami: has next to no experience with this type of game; next to no experience with the Wii itself; and have not fared very well with the 3D side of gaming.

I agree that your character's looks can spoil a game, especially in a game like this.

However, I disagree that Konami hasn't been successful with 3D games, even though the majority of fans would disagree.

Yes, but those were all changes FOR THE BETTER. These new looks are indeed similar to the character's more recent appearances, but they just don't look right. Maybe with more time...

Well, the problem is that Konami has to re-design the characters in 3D and make them fit the game graphics. It's not like they could take 2D Simon and just copy and paste him in a 3D game. It just wouldn't look right.

I'm starting to wonder if it has to do with limitations of the hardware...  ???

Maybe, or maybe they just want a new style for this game. They've never made a fighter game before.

That my friend is called an opinion.  You see many of us vastly prefer the original Trevor and Simon(especially).  And many still even prefer the non-girly Alucard.  The characters in judgement look like the same characters in different outfits.  They have the key physical features of the characters... ie. Maria is a young blonde girl, Simon is a muscular red haired young man, and Alucard is slightly feminine pale man with long white/platinum hair.

I guess we just differ on opinion.  To me it's all about gameplay and atmosphere.  And while the characters are part of the atmosphere, the areas I can see in the screens look very much the way the Castlevania world does in my mind.

It's one thing with 2D castlevanias because characters are generally small and lack detail (for the most part) but in 3D, the character seems to make a much greater impression in the overall game. That's just my opinion of course.

I have a feeling it is going to suck.  Then again, it could get canceled like castlevania resurrection did.
