As much as I was originally opposed to the idea, I hope it doesn't get canceled. I wanna see how this turns out. :)

Hah.

I'm laughing so hard at how many people actually are advocating this abomination.

Lets look past the fact that not only does the *current* CV team not know how to do 3D correctly, and barring the fact they decided to make everything look like damn DEATHNOTE which will make every idiot-fan of the series lap up the game regardless of how crappy it may or may not be......

....the only fighter game I could find actually developed by Konami was TMNT Tournament Fighters, which beyond being release in 14 years ago, wasn't that great at all. What the hell makes them, or anybody else, think they could actually pull off some miracle with another fighting game, using a game series known only successfully as an adventure/action side-scroller?

How can anybody not see this as a lame attempt at banking on the success of Soul Calibur, and an even lamer attempt at reviving a series that has been digging it's own grave for the past few years? (with the exception of Dracula X Chronicles) I honestly and truly cannot see anything good coming out of this game, and unless someone can give me a better reasoning than "Well, we should just wait and see" as a good excuse as to why I shouldn't shit on this atrocity (because the CV team as of late has been soooooo awesome about pulling their asses from the fire), I'm afraid simple naive optimism won't be enough to save this game.

And IGA is full of bullshit after his schpeal about loving 2D Castlevania, then coming up with this crap, stating it as a game he thinks "Castlevania fans will love".

Why do you so ignorantly refuse to accept something just because it's never been done before? If you were a REAL Castlevania fan, you would be open to the idea and at least give it a chance. Each person here is entitled to their own opinion.

Also, don't you dare insult Iga, the man who worked like hell and poured his freakin' soul into keeping Castlevania alive! >:(

There is no difference between a real Castlevania fan and a normal Castlevania fan. It's just a matter of opinion.

The guy is right to be pessimistic about this game, since it's a horrible idea and just doesn't suit the Castlevania series at all. But this is borderline childish. Give it a rest everybody, it's just a fucking game.

I seriously don't care what he says about the game. It might suck, it might be great, no one knows. As I said before, AND as you said, it's all a matter of opinion.

I just hate it when people insult Iga. Maybe before they insult him, they should try being the producer of such a popular franchise?

There has NEVER been a historical nobleman outfit that looks REMOTELY like what Alucard did in SOTN.  Just cause it does in some anime does not make it historically accurate "bro".  And that's not what makes him seem girly, it is the obviously bishonen design of the character.  To say he wasn;t drawn as such is just ridiculous.  And I never even said i had a problem with it, vampires are very often feminine, as he is in this game.  Even if they did resemble kingdom hearts style characters, just because you don't like that series hardly makes it them "crapping on the artistic aesthetic."

It is a FACT that every character shown in the screens thus far has been altered drastically more in the past then in what we see now.  Alucard looks like he is just wearing a different armor.  I like Simon's look FAR more than his Chronicles outfit.  Atleast in this they tried to make him look slightly manly.

Sindra...  This series is not digging a grave, every hand held itteration since 2000 has gotten an average score of atleast 8 out of 10, and all have recieved some of the best sales numbers for their respective platforms.  Just because you don't care for them doesn't mean the series is dying.

This is a fun idea for fanservice.  I love fighting games, I love castlevania.  And the fact that you think the same team that made LoI and CoD are working on this is nothing short of hysterical.  Come on... Konami is a business, they will hire the appropriate people for a fighting game, not action game programmers.  look at DXC, it was a different type of game, so it had an ENTIRELY different team of programmers.  This is not a cash in, in fact this is one of the few games released today that is not.  this is nothing more than trying to put together something fun, albeit a little silly, for us.  And all you can do is bitch?  Please go sign up on some mega man forums.

I agree. The costumes actually don't concern me very much, but I eagerly anticipate the game's release. Has anyone heard anything about the release date?

It's actually an interesting idea though if you think about it. Soul Calibur has been a hit series with it's Teken-like fighting action (with the exception of Legends, which I hate) and it'll be interesting to see how Iga pulls this off.

HA! I love how the first attack is the "If you were a real Castlevania fan...." crap. A person can be just as much as Castlevania fan as anybody else, but not buy every piece of shit that might have a Castlevania name slapped on it. I'm a fan of the Castlevania that defined the series years ago, not the Castlevania that's just barely able to keep the franchise alive. But please, you go ahead and question my loyalty to the series when I'm fighting to advocate it not killing itself.

You're also right, everyone is entitled to their opinions. I have mine that I just stated, but you decided to not take your own advice and accept it.

Oh, and Alex, read my post over again. I said I liked Dracula X Chronicles. That one was a happy fluke. I also like fighting games, but I don't like it when a team comes in and tries to make a game something it's not. It'd be like slapping wings on a shark and thinking it was a good idea. Why, if the handheld CV games were doing so well, would they need to deviate into something so drastic?

I admit, the whole "Real Castlevania fan" thing was pretty stupid, and I apologize for that. However, did I not just say the game might suck? It's not like I'm saying "No! The game will be awesome! You're wrong!" No, I'm saying I think it's an interesting idea and I want to see how it turns out. If it sounds like I'm saying anything other than that simple statement, I apologize.

Alright then. That I can understand. Curiosity I can understand, but people who're all overly optimistic and actually looking forward to this game (for reasons other than liking it to watching a train-wreck) are seriously starting to disturb me.

I've been disappointed too many times by video games to get overly optimistic about them. Examples: Twilight Princess, Soul Calibur Legends, Smash Bros Brawl, etc.

I notice those are all Wii games too. Perhaps this means something...?

Hmm. Well people sure have mixed opinions about this, as far as I can see. Such is to be expected, when Konami is doing something as drastic as this. There is a possibility that they can still pull it off, and there is a possibility they might not. Let's not be too optimistic OR pessimistic about it until we hear more news.

Please don't bash IGA.. I don't think it's entirely his fault. Konami execs are the ones trying to milk more money from the franchise, not him. >.< I think he just honestly loves the game and is trying to keep it alive. ..That's just my opinion, of course.

I will say that of the many gaming fandoms I've visited Castlevania fans tend to be the most whiny, largely due to IGA bashing which is starting to annoy me too.
