ya know what strikes me as weird about this, aside from everything else already mentioned, is why is the chick from the unreleased game in this?

I said in a FIGHTING GAME.  There will be 2 people playing at once, maybe 4.  And Halo's online is amazing.  It only lags because of people with bad online connections.  But with a fighting game it is likely to be one on one.  Which is VERY simple.

Need we mention Smash Brawl again?

And this is NINTENDO. A company with vast more amounts of funding than Konami.

Smash often lags to quite unplayable conditions if the player count goes above 2.

It's true that Nintendo also doesn't have much experience with online (certainly not as much as Microsoft), but the Wii's other companies don't seem to get it either.

Thanks for the link to the new scans, Azmodan. I'm going over them now.

At first, I was a little 'whoa wtf' at Takeshi Obata's designs. They kind of look like they came from some clearance sale at Hot Topic, and yet...I'm starting to like them. o_O

I wouldn't be surprised if it was meant to pick up some more Japanese fans. It's nowhere near as kiddy as the initial DS games' art, but it's a bit of a visual shock. Eh, alternate outfits sounds like a likely concept anyways, so I wouldn't be surprised to hear that their original outfits are included.

Smash brothers is a completely different kind of game than all other fighting games.  Look at the ps2/xbox mortal kombat.  those games are far more similar to Judgement and they had flawless online play.  And then look at metal gear online, a far more complex online play handled perfectly by konami.  And any lag issues are 99% of the time due to a players limited connection.

KCEJ is a wholly other funded and talented beast quite separate from KCET.

Also, Midway has had alot of previous experience making fighting games; so they'd be that much more prepared to bring it online.

They're interesting designs but they're just not Castlevania. I think Simon looks very true to his art, Dracula and Alucard don't but I still kind of like them. Maria's art is just plain awful. I'm hoping they have alternate outfits that are their classic ones

I'd only disagree on Alucard, he looks very true to his character from past games.  Dracula does look different... but how many times have we said that in past games?  I like to think of it like this (and it is supported in most of the games) That when he rises at his hundred year point he appears much younger, but when it is out of the cycle he looks far older.

And antraxx, anyone of us could put a 1 on 1 fighting game online after a week of basic programming classes.  It's the single easiest type of game to put online.

Actually, I think Alucard kinda looks like himself, just a more 'female' version.  He looks okay in the actual game screenshots.  I COMPLETELY agree with Maria, though while that weapon looks like some kind of 'animal cruelty' device, it's pretty nice looking.  Simon's outfit is ***. And except for the utter looking battle armor, Dracula actually looks pretty good.

After reading the actual article, the game doesn't sound so bad either.  I think I'll stay in my gray area until I see gameplay.  Or outright play it.

I was suppose to say something profound here. I don't 'do' profound so much as ramble so...whatever. Here lies text. Congratulations for reading it.  You were as bored as I am. Seriously, stop reading, you can't be that bored.  Still here? Really?  You officially are my new favorite person and now are owed one internet cookie. Don't eat it though, it gives you bad gas.

I don't think it will be bad.  Especially after reading the np scans.  It sounds like Iga really has put a lot of thought into this game.

Need we mention Smash Brawl again?

Smash often lags to quite unplayable conditions if the player count goes above 2.

If you play randomly with people wich you can't see their connection quality yes, probably, but if we talk about 4 players battle with Friend Codes and a "yellow" minimum quality the battles goes almost perfect.

After finally reading through the scans, this is what I learnt:

#1 Iga is behind the conception of this installment (not konami-execs, like I'd have hoped..). So if this game turns out to be great, well the Iga-nay-sayers will have something to chew on, however if it sucks, Iga will have finally dug his own grave.

#2 And that the control scheme sounds absolutely horrible (heres hoping there will be support for the classic controller).
