Well, I for one want to see 3-d done right.  I'd enjoy a 2.5-d game as much as anyone, but we all know IGA has a chip on his shoulder about how well his ps2-vanias went over.  Also, consider the negative buzz surrounding Castlevania FRAUD.  Fans Rage Against Unfaithful Designs, other gamers are confused by the fighter premise, while the gaming press has yet to give an encouraging review about how the game actually plays.  All this may be impacting the direction this new Alucard game ultimately takes.  I'm almost certain this teaser was shown just to give the fans some red meat.

Anyway, it's not really 50:50. It's just that a fully 3d game is waaay more likely on ps3/x360.

the fact IGA is toutching SOTN in any way can be 3 things

1: just natural for plot reasons leading to the 1999 game that we all know is going to be (we hope) the orgasmin culmination of all things CV

2: useing SOTN as a crutch knowing the past 3d venues have not been good...the n64 are in the air as good/bad but imo the n64 ones where more CV than CoD and LoI- but I do love those 2 games for their story telling of the CV line.

3: is going to give us something worth of the SOTN legacy for the "next" (yet current lol) gen systems

as for the story, I think my guess is good- I still belive after SOTN Drac is giving up his war vs humans- alucard finaly got thru to him about his mother etc- we have yet to see a natural ressurection of drac after sotn (1999 right?)

lol. Drac just gives in on the whole war against humanity thing, having learned from the past and wants to lead a peaceful life with his son, then Julius shows up and finally kills him. That'd be tragic.

You could be right about that.
At the end of Sotn Drac pulls a dr.wily(oh im soo sorry) and vanishes. Then after that Alucard gets pissed some how. Maybe due to Dark Lord Rage? Wasn't there a Castlevania where someone said that there would always be a dark lord or something?

AoS and DoS states that there will always be a dark lord of some type.

I always get a feel that sometimes Drac does not act like Drac- the one with personality SOTN, Bram Stroker, LoI etc-etc- sometimes Drac is just a shell and generic vampire guy

Anywho I think there will be something that happens to bring Dracula back into a major piss-off war with humans- because the script and events of SOTN still, to me point to Drac stopping his full out desire to destroy all humans- Bloodlines/PoR and OOE are all after SOTN and before 1999 right?- they all are summons- in PoR drac just was like "arr...i am...evil...arrr...die..." and he did not show up till the end- Brauner was really doing the dark lord shiz- however bloodlines he was kinda out to pwn people, but wasent most of that brought by his neice who summoned him.

This new game showing us events after sotn should shed some light on the events after sotn obviously and hopefully onto the reason why belmonts are not at large till 1999 and cant use the vamp killer

I still think something will happen to maria just like lisa and somas gal- i think it also will somehow end up being tied to a drac ressurection- giveing alucard fule to turn evil and be a villan for a game/part of the game, and also then bring him back to wanting to fight his pops/stop him from wageing war.

The belmonts are to be cursed somehow- I think alucard will be involved- this brings me to think somehow belmonts will be involved with takeing out maria or whatever event pisses alucard off- prolly not richter but the main whip weilders cannot be the only belmonts around.

but...this is all made up nonsence till we get any tidbit of info plotwise

That's a rather nice idea. After SOTN, having been told that Lisa bade him not harm humans (and perhaps also realising that Lisa herself was human, so his logic had been somewhat flawed for 300 years), Dracula gave up on his war with humanity. Until 1999, he was just a shell; a vessel, perhaps, for the powers of darkness. His soul was not fully in his body.

Therefore, in OoE (which I haven't played yet so no unmarked spoilers please), LoD, CV64 (they ARE in the timeline now, right?), the novel, Bloodlines and PoR, Dracula isn't quite himself. Now, having him as something of a mindless monster doesn't quite gel with his extremely verbose nature in the novel (seriously, when he's talking to Harker in the castle, the guy never shuts up). But, then again, in the novel, he seemed to be more concerned with making new vampires than usual - perhaps he had decided that instead of killing humans, he would give them immortality?

In the begining Mathias obtained Walter's soul and made it his own. The characteristics in Walter was just to play games and do bit of evil. Mathias just has strong feelings.

But I don't know if this is the reason why Drac became evil again after being soft at the end of sotn.

There must be other reasons.

Actually, if the novel takes place in 1897 (when it was published, although it's possible that if the novel exists in the Castlevania universe then the events described in it took place earlier than that), then it's a natural resurrection (SOTN is in 1797).

About the centennial resurrections: it doesn't seem to be consistent. Dracula was defeated in 1476 (CV3), was prematurely revived in 1479 (CoD) and then rose again in 1576 (ADV). This seems to indicate that he resurrects 100 years after his last defeat after a natural resurrection, and that any premature revivals don't matter.

He is defeated again in 1591 (BR) and rises in 1691 (CV). THIS seems to indicate that Dracula always resurrects 100 years after his last defeat. Of course, it's possible that Dracula was not defeated in ADV and was not put down until BR.

Incomplete resurrections don't seem to matter as far as the century thing is concerned. Dracula only seems to be at his strongest during the century resurrections, and it's only then that he can be revived through his own remains without it being botched(CV2 and HoD). Other times, it seems like he needs outside help, especially through vessels, to resurrect(for Bloodlines and PoR, it seems that the World Wars were helping in some way).

Here's how the century resurrection thing is happening:

-1476(first death)-1576(full resurrection)
[1479's events don't seem to effect the full resurrection.]

-1576-1591(Dracula wasn't killed in CV Adventures, just wounded. He escaped in the form of mist, and returned to kidnap Christopher's son many years later. It wasn't until Belmont's Revenge that he was killed by Christopher.)

-1591-1691(full resurrection)

-1691-1792(Full resurrecton)
[1698 and 1748's events don't seem to effect full resurrection. In both cases, Dracula tries to possess his own remains and ends up becoming a sorta wraith-like being.]

Now we are up to the part with SotN. I don't think it's meant to count as a full resurrection, and call it a hunch, but I don't think Dracula will full resurrect in 1797. If anything, it depends if IGA will go by the book, where Dracula was already around during that time. Hence it's possible he could've been resurrected years before, 100 years after RoB, 1892. The significance of 1897 is still that Dracula is defeated(at full power) and will rise 100 years later in full power(1997). That leads me to believe that it will take him three years to call forth all the armies of darkness, and when that's complete, the Demon Castle War will happen in 1999, the Belmonts will show up and the final battle will happen. It's just a theory.
