The news has been released. They showed Saw, Silent Hill, Six Days in Fallujah, Vandal Hearts, Yu Gi Oh, Zombie Apocalypse and Ant Nation. No Castlevania. Here's hoping for E3. . .
If I forgot "everything I knew about Castlevania" I certainly wouldn't be excited about a new one coming out now would I?

Lack of Castlevania aside, I cheered over the news of a Wii Silent Hill. :3

Maybe it's just me, but I don't expect any new Castlevania PS3/XBOX360 news from E3. I thought I heard the CG trailer was released earlier than IGA would have liked, and so I expect the game's a long way from anything presentable. Again, maybe it's just me, but I'm thinking this Castlevania is a 2010 or 2011 release. (Unless they're going to whip out something quick like Curse of Darkness or Judgment that is. Because, unless IGA's team is going to reuse PS2 models and textures, it seems to take a while to set up a next-gen framework in a big way). And myself, I'm hoping it's not TOO Alucard-centric. I want to do some serious acrobatics in-game with the whip for once.

It won't suck honestly if he does want to spend more time on the game. By all means, if it will make it better, then I say go for it. Another trailer would be nice though, I'll admit.

Well, I guess if they aren't ready to show it, they aren't ready to show it. I'd rather have them spend time on a game than rush the living hell out of it.

Besides, Wii Silent Hill. And Bionic Commando, which isn't Konami, but it still looks godly and is out in May!

I'm glad they're not presenting anything right now. The more time they take, the better, as far as I'm concerned. So long as they use that time wisely.

Though I certainly wouldn't advise Konami to rush the game at the expense of the programming, I also wouldn't necessarily say longer development time automatically equals a better game.

Look at Resident Evil 5. They took four years to deliver that game, and while it is a good, enjoyable game, it's also short and relatively forgettable, and feels, despite its extended development time, to have been rushed and underthought.

And then there's Chinese Democracy. . .longer just doesn't mean better.

I'd like to hear more about the game, they don't have to announce a release date yet or anything, but some early screenshots, some character art, even some concept renderings would help stoke the fanbase.

Well I got a PS3 in hopes of a new castlevania, maybe a new ZoE and the final fantasys along with blu-ray that I am enjoying very much! as well as playing my PS2 ish on a HD screen and not looking like poop.

Then I got a PSP b/c my wife saw Castlevania X chrnoicals and FF:Tactics on sale for 10$ new- so she got them and then said "Well I guess you have to get a PSP now" as both of them along with FF7:CC where 3 games I really wanted but could not justify buying them at 35$ each and then 200$ for the psp...althought in the end it was a trick as the day after I got my PSP she was like "oh look the new DSi is out...ppllzz baby"

anywho- after playing Drac X chrnoicals...I dont know if I can accept any more non 2.5d games- they did imo soooo SOO well on this, the visuals in everything where outstanding- I want a SOTN and AoS/DoS remake in 2.5d now IGA NOW..

and of cource the ps3/xb new one also! woo woo

Castlevania could benefit from more production time I mean both SotN and PoR were cut short because of production time. RE5 while excellent is still riding on what RE4 did. the only difference is co-op (the main reason for this game to exist) and a few weapons like the Hydra(best gun ever wielded Dante style).

Ah, but the difference here is that Resident Evil 5 is a good game, whereas the rushed console CV Curse of Darkness is not.

Are we, perhaps, a little closer to getting a new announcement on a PS3/XBox360 title?

http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/05/rumor-new-xbox-360-title-on-the-way-from-konami/

Just some rumor/speculation to mull over...

After the lackluster showing and reception of Judgment last year, I wouldn't blame Konami for being more cautious this time.

That said, the sooner the better, because I want a new CV. :P

Maybe they will make a surprise announcement about it soon. On the other hand, they did work on 4 Castlevania related titles this past year.  So maybe they need a bit of a break.  From what I hear, IGA's team rarely takes any.

To be fair, Judgment was severely underrated. Everyone bitched about Maria looking like Misa Amane and never even touched the game. Even the reviewers likely hadn't played it from what I've read, especially that idiot Adam Sessler.
