Sources have told me that Igarashi had two ideas for this

A 3D zeldavania is more likely, although a hi-res 2D platformer does sound intriguing beep boop boop boooOOP

I'm all for a Zeldaesque Castlevania. I think the world could be very interesting with mansions, forests, dungeons, villages, graveyards and of course - Dracula's Castle. I'm not sure if IGA and his team of level designers have what it takes to pull it off and make it interesting though... It's quite an undertaking.

I'd love to see a Zelda-style 3D Castlevania.  Unfortunately, I don't know that Iga is the guy I'd want to see making it.  We've seen his past 3D efforts where he has taken inspiration from other games (like Devil May Cry and Power Stone), and they have turned out to be not that great.  I would hate to see them make a sub-par knockoff of Zelda with Castlevania themes.  If Konami outsourced the game to a team that is experienced at delivering open world 3D games, and they could bring us an open world RPG that has its own unique feel, I'd love to see it.  But if Iga is at the helm, I would prefer that he just sticks to his strength, and makes a hi-res 2D game for the PS3/360 instead.

Ditto. I'm afraid that they would make it Zelda-like to avoid having to make proper 3D platforming, which would suck to the moon.

I wonder if IGA made the last few 3D games sub-par in an attempt to trick the execs at Konami into letting him make a 2D one? Perhaps he timed it with the recent popularity of 2D games like Mega Man 9 and Street Fighter 4 (yeah yeah, it still plays 2D, dammit). If this were true, IGA would be the most brilliant mind in games this decade.

I don't know if I would call intentionally making expensive 3D games mediocre so you can get approval to make a much less expensive 2D retro game "brilliant".  I would call that "incredibly stupid".  But I doubt there is a method to the madness, I just think Iga really isn't very good at making 3D games.

I would think yes... he should be the one designing it. Though I can't say he has a direct hand in it. In any case, he's the head, so he's more or less the fall guy if something goes bad... or good.

He's not in charge of that stuff. He's the producer. He doesn't make the games, and he doesn't direct them(that's the director's job, see), he markets them, thinks of the stories, and chooses the directions of the games(i.e: magic systems, difficulty, artist, style, etc.).

OK, sorry... Iga's teams are not good at making 3D games.

But he gets to decide how it's design. S wouldn't it still be his fault, although, not completely, since I would never believe only one person is responsible for a game project (unless its all one person).

I wouldn't mind a Zelda-like Castlevania game, as long as they allow you to jump
What a horrible night to have a curse!

He had that role well before LoI came out, much less CoD.
