Well, what kind of "dark-meter" are you using to measure up the darkness levels of LoS?

dark.... not in light, but ambiance, feeling... there are some parts that seems like it, but some of those scenes definitely don't feel that way. And there is not dark meter, idiot, stop trying to sound smart. It's a subjective thing, not objective. If you feel its dark, good for you.

this is how i feel^^^
thats the point i was trying to get across all day. i like a dark ambiance feel to. and tho the Castle shown in the latest pics are pretty awesome and does give you the feel of Castlevania it just seemed to brightly lit in my opinion. all the guys trying to defend LOS to be this perfect game or geting defensive and angry for no reason. i'm not saying its going to be a horible game at all but saying that it has alot of aspects that shouldn't be in the game like the enchanted forest and stuff like that.
i just think that it should have been more darker thats all and not have so many daytime stages. but the Rainy Warg fight looked really freaken awesome i gotta say its just a shame that more of the outside areas couldn't be like that.
maybe add a dark rainy swamp or 2 instead of enchanted forests and mountains

I'm not trying anything, I'm actually smart; the rest comes naturally.

Hey, aren't we glad Ocarina of time had the Shadow Temple, or that Half Life 2 had Ravenholm, or the Ghost Manors in Mario? Think that but reverse. Changing the mood up every once in a while is ok.... Honestly, if this game is to feel like a long trek, it will be more rewarding if we have been through many different scenarios. Instead of. The Gloomy Forest and the Gloomy Village and the Gloomy ruins that lead to the Gloomy ice field

Well that's a good point. How can you worsen up things if they are the worst already? I'm almost completely sure this game is going to convey a sense of "darkening" through Gabriel's journey, but this game feels already dark from the very beginning. Also, screenshots reveal undeniably dark themes: vicious creatures roaming the earth and killing people, the best 3D night I've ever seen in a videogame, and the devil mask which is cracked into an evil grin. Also, the trailer suggests Gabriel is not as good as the rest of the Belmonts, even the brainwashed Richter from SotN (it's brainwashed after all).

Now that I think about it, during the trailers when Gabriel is looking at the huge castle in the distance, I noticed the dark clouds swirling around the top. I think as time goes by the influence of the Lords of Shadow get's stronger and affects the world, so the game may start out looking all bright and sunny  but then as you progress the world will look like doomsday.

this is true. The description says that the land is torn or whatever, so in general it's a darker set up. Remember, nearly every castlevania takes place when "Mankind succumbs to wickedness." or something like that. It's always in the dark days. But there's plenty of room for it to get worse.

if you think about it, LordofShadows is right here. In the last ten years, the Castlevanias have not had as much evidence of mankind's wickedness as they did in the 90's. In the 90's you'd see corpses on pikes, birds eating the dead, and though you could assume it was Dracula's work, you know that people could have easily done it too since it's in their towns square. In the recent games, you don't really see much of that. In this game, it looks like it not just the monsters going rampant, but humanity has been doing harm too. I', eager to see how steeped in vileness humanity has gotten itself into in this game.

See? There's plenty of really dark stuff in LoS, you just need to look in the right direction.

I mean think about it. Near the beginning of SCIV you are trudging through swamps and stables. Obviously near the end of the game, when you are in the castle, it is darker and more epic, but there is still a sense of long journey. It's called pacing and good story telling.

And, it's always great to see the Spiders return to the CV series, but I kinda wondered why the CV Wiki page for the spiders forgot to put CV3 on the page.
Well, I didn't exactly forget to put up CV3 spiders on the page.  I was going game by game with all the artwork that were available, and I hadn't gotten to CV3 artwork yet (there's not as much of it and i don't know off the bat if there is any for Spiders).  I was hoping other wiki editors would fill in some of the stuff I skip over.

If you read what I wrote, I already know that there are, but if you read my post, I also stated that there are places that aren't.

Which is what Castlevania has always been like. Some light places, some dark ones. Thank god LoS isn't as grey, gloomy and depressing as many "fans" wants it to be. It's colorful in all the right places while still retaining the gothic look in most of the screens. I simply don't see how it's "less dark" than most of the other Castlevanias. It seems more mature if anything.

But this discussion is no fun.  :(

I would like to hear some new music.  :D

Let's talk about Zobek! Clearly he is an important character. Do we think he will betray us?
