Wow, I was thinking the same thing. Never thought someone from here would agree with me. Those new enemies look like mutans. I am not digging the enemy roster at all. Where are the classic enemies? Why don't they pick foes that are actually interesting? I always loved how Castlevania took creatures from interesting mythologies. I'm starting to doubt Cox and this game again. Not cool.

Now that I think of it, where the "zombies" we were all seeing in the screens those things seen in the picture with the Butcher? Those don't look like zombies to me. They look more like those vampires from Blade II. Though, considering how one is riding the Butcher's back, and how insect-like the mandibles are(which was a point made in Blade II), I'm wondering if those could be LoS's version of the Flea Men. It could make sense.

But yeah, those new monsters(the nose ones) scare the crap out of me. They remind me of that ugly little gnome from Cat's Eye. Though, I can actually see them existing in a CV game, and at least to me, the look more "at place" than those goblins. The Butcher, IMO, looks CRAZY! He's a boss, right? I'm hoping for some cool intro scene where we might see him cutting up human bodies before Gabriel enters the room(almost like the scene of the Butcher in Diablo).

Haven't they already shown armors? The ax armor, is one of the most CV things I can think of. I just needs to see some bone throwing skeletons >.>

Am I the only one in that doesn't have a problem with the enemy design's so far? And im wlling to bet that we've only seen a faction of the enemy roster so people saying that medusa heads or bone pillar are not in need to cool down a bit.

Ad those little troll things remind me of Gnome from Tales of Eternia, I hated that bastard.

I'm assuming all these generic demons will run rampant throughout the first half of the game, but as we reach the castle itself, the classic enemies will most certainly be there.

So per the article double jumping is confirmed now too. I hope the exploration isn't as lame as it was in Lament of Innocence, with a hand full of 'secret' rooms with nothing useful in them scattered here and there.

Keep the trailer the press has been writing about lately, I want to see some common, meat and potatoes gameplay videos of this game. Game trailers these days are all cut scenes and flash, they make cooking sims look epic. I want to see garden variety playthrough; that's what'll sell me on slogging through 20+ hours of gameplay.
If I forgot "everything I knew about Castlevania" I certainly wouldn't be excited about a new one coming out now would I?

Waaaah! People are whining too much. "Blah blah the enemy design isn't EXACTLY like it was in Dracula's Curse! OMG this game sucks because of that!".

I mean.. really?

Lords of Shadow looks so cool at this point it's not even funny. Like, God FORBID if this game actually brings the Castlevania franchise into the 21st century!  :o

Nope, especially after seeing the ax knight a while back. That guy looks awesome. I still don't like the idea of the titans, but who knows maybe they'll fit in there better than I thought.

Orignal Castlevania Enemies:

Skeletons - In LOS
Zombies - (certainly of some sort in LOS)
Panthers - unkown (but do they really SCREAM Castelvania? anyway it could be in the jungle/temple area)
Armors - In LOS
Eagles - In LOS (although maybe not as enemies)
Medusa Heards - In LOS
Ghosts - (swordmasters In LOS)
Bats - In LOS
Fleamen - unknown
Mermen - unkown
Skull Pillar - unkown

Thats not bad.

Most of the enemy designs look pretty slick to me! I've actually wondered why we hadn't seen traditional looking goblins in the series yet, so it's like they read my mind. 8) And who knows, it may be possible they're showing us these because we haven't seen much like this. Like the giant spider? I think it's more interesting to see than the obvious CV enemies, anyways.

I'm wondering if there will be any super weak, one-hit kill enemies. I'd kind of like to see that, but then again it depends on whatever would be appropriate in the context of the level design. So admittedly, it's a bit silly to ruminate on, but one thing that really changes the feel between 2D and 3D Castlevanias is the lengthy arena-battle aspect of the 3D PS2 titles. Similar to God of War, you get trapped in an area with a bunch of enemies that take lots of hits, and you have to kill them off before you can move on.

There's nothing inherently wrong or bad about that, but something that worked nicely for the pacing of previous 2D Castlevanias is having the occasional enemy you just absolutely destroy. Bats, flea men, and medusa heads are some obvious ones... but I'm also picturing the Wargs from the opening of Symphony of the Night. Not every enemy has to get you trapped in an epic struggle. There are some enemies you can run away from, others you can obliterate with one hit. It's fun having those sorts of enemies tossed in there.

Lords of Shadow looks so cool at this point it's not even funny.
Agreed!

Medusa Heards - In LOS
When was this confirmed

You know what else I'm wondering? What are the button layouts, and how do we use the Combat cross? I heard rumors we use the right analogue stick for it.

If I recollect correctly, recent previews mentioned them in clock tower's description.

Just a rumour:

I don't doubt they might add them to the enemies after hearing people's opinions, but if they were already there, they certainly would have showed them. No point in keeping such juicy Castlevaniashness from the public, seeing as this project has already had its share of doubt.

And then there are the "fans" who fiercely protect anything this game has offered so far, as if they were afraid Konami would scrap the project if they get a whiff of constructive criticism.
