Very impressive, beautiful screens.
LOL at Olrox and Brauner. That's certainly not something that I expected to see.
However I personally never cared about both of them, so I kind of not pissed about such radical redesign.
Though I like how they similar designs in their original games where played out here.

(In the infamous words of the 1st Metroid: Other M trailer): "REMEMBER ME?".................

.........lol
In all seriousness, some of the new designs are very impressive. I do think they're forcing the fan-service a bit with all the random name drops, but I'll go with it for now. Regardless, I've been playing some Darksiders and Ninja Gaiden Sigma lately (both with 3D cameras), and the game design for Castlevania: LOS has a lot to live up to.

Some of those screenshots/enemies are pretty sick, I really love that shot of Gabriel fighting those crow monsters. The undead monsters are positively CREEPY, I love it.

The "zombies" in the last pic actually look like they could be part of Legion, don't you think? It was the first thing that crossed my mind when I saw them.. Though maybe they need to be nude for that..

EDIT: Though maybe they ARE nude. It's hard to tell what's going on... it looks like someone have ripped their skin off, then randomly sown it back on. Or maybe they're mummies. I dunno. It's very disturbing anyway.

Oh man, if Legion is in this game that would be pretty amazing.

^As long as it's called Granfalloon! That always struck me as the most insane/ obscure reference for a Castlevania game. It's a name I wish they would've kept instead of Legion.

"A granfalloon, in the fictional religion of Bokononism (created by Kurt Vonnegut in his 1963 novel Cat's Cradle), is defined as a "false karass." That is, it is a group of people who outwardly choose or claim to have a shared identity or purpose, but whose mutual association is actually meaningless."

"The granfalloon technique is a method of persuasion in which individuals are encouraged to identify with a particular granfalloon or social group. The pressure to identify with a group is meant as a method of securing the individual's loyalty and commitment through adoption of the group's symbols, rituals, and beliefs."

Ridonkulous, but cool. :)

I think the art is mostly awesome. The Pan, the Headless Burrower, the Silver Warrior...

As far as Olrox & Brauner goes, I agree with LordsofShadow completely. I think they also look pretty rad, just not quite for who they are. At least, Olrox (don't really care about Brauner). I always thought of Olrox as the guy who invited you to sit down at his table before you fought, something that wouldn't look appropriate with this version, so I understand the disappointment. I would've preferred for them to stick more closely to SotN on that one. Also because Olrox is inspired by Orlock, and I like the bald + skinny Nosferatu look. It should be something along those lines. Otherwise, I'd be stoked on them as big beefy ugly vampire beasts. They look good in those terms.

By far, the weirdest looking thing is the Chupacabra. It unfortunately doesn't seem to borrow anything from Chupacabra folklore, so I do have somewhat of an issue with the name. In terms of appropriateness otherwise, I don't think it's too far off from the Pan- while one is clearly more cartoonish and almost whimsical looking, they both look like something that could've fit in Pan's Labyrinth or something else by Guillermo del Toro. That's definitely not a bad thing. :) I guess I'll just have to wait and see what they do with the Chupacabra character(s?). Even the "worst" here looks far better than:

So for that I am happy, at the least. I can't wait for this game to come out.

Also I went to the chapel and yes they are hating on the screens.

Which is no surprise to me. Anyway, I guess it's safe to say that the reason Cox is trowing all this fanservice at us, is because some fans were complaining that the game wasn't Castlevania enough, which is pretty ironic in itself since after the fact, people are complaining even more. *sigh* This fanbase is pretty damn hard to please. lol.

Also, I really don't care for the newer enemy designs, since I don't really feel anything negative or positive towards them. I just want to play the game, because that's where the real judgement begins.

Or, it could be the fact that Cox is always contradicting himself,

"This game is a brand new IP we're developing. No it's not."
"We're taking inspiration from only SCIV.. none of the later titles. But it's also a metrovania."
"Forget everything you knew about castlevania. But not everything."
"I look at God of War and say this is what Castlevania should've been. But LoS is nothing like God of War."
"The CE isn't real. But it probably is."
etc.

Yeah, LoS is pretty much a hypocritical, confused mess.
I'm not even sure what the team is aiming to do with this game. They seem so conflicted, hopping from one end of the spectrum to the other. I do like Headless Burrower and the Coffin though. I would like the angel if it didn't look like it was from DMC4.

Yeah the game's development in general is a convoluted mess on par with the storyline in Kingdom Hearts. At this point I don't care if they rip out gameplay mechanics or enemies from other sources, I just hope the game turns out great in the long run.

And who know's maybe if the game is a sucess and a sequel is greenlited they will listen to some of the fan's about what the next 3D Castlevania should be like.

Which reminds me of the whole no-QTE fiasco. And about the whole new IP, wasn't it already mentioned that this was originally a remake of the first CV? Not to mention, he said that Konami of Europe, Japan, and America all pitched in for a 3D Castlevania, and theirs was chosen? And it's funny how you say this game isn't like GoW. Cox said it was more like PoP and Uncharted, but many people compared it to GoW. I also don't see how this game is a Metroidvania, either. Don't most of them take place strictly inside Drac's castle (except OoE)? If anything, this game reminds me more of Simon's Quest. But yes, he does tend to contradict himself half the time.

Short answer: No I was just messing with him.

Long answer: My point is that none of that suff is real and has yet to be proven real, just made up stories, fokelore, old wives' tales, yarn's of old, myth's, legend's, urban legend's, baseless conspiracy theories and flat out lies that can be changed with a single pen. If Mercury Steam thinks the Chupacabra looks like a Master Thornberry from Final Fantasy then what they think it looks like since no one is really sure what one looked like.

I'm a little disappointed with Olrox and Brauner, but Malphas almost made up for it.
