Im on chapter II stage II.
Already im feeling this lord of the rings/castlevania 2 vibe.
Much like castlevania 2 you fought werewolves at the begining and this has that.
There is no day to night sequences either which was pretty damn annoying.
Other than that I want to keep on going with this game.

Feels like a 3D version of old NES Rygar, actually.
I'm with Oralox, it feels like an epic standalone story, or like LotR.

Again, not saying it's not a bad game (it's actually quite great! :D) but I'm still waiting for the "Castlevania" feeling to click in.

From what I've seen in the guide, just be patient. Day becomes night- and when the vampires roam I think your LotR comparasion will be at an end. You guys are so early in the game- don't think the whole game is day times and werewolves.

NES Rygar? What? lol- I used to rock that game and the thought of Rygar never even popped in my head once.

Funny, considering that the 3D Rygar is pretty much the reason God of War is what it is. lol

That was actually something I noticed. While it is daytime, it's still...dark.

I really enjoy that.

Eh... the camera isn't THAT great. Very wonky at times.
Actually I think it depends on you. I didn't move too fast, I'm not a fast gamer, I tend to attack slowly and deadly, and believe me, camera angles were not a mess... the bad part is... I couldn't even pass the horse stage so my word isn't wrth a penny :)

However I think they will "re-tell" some classics stories, mmy bet is in Simon belmont, I'm 80% sure he'll be the next main character, hey, Cox loves him, we love him, people acclaim him, he's the one ;D but don't rule out a Godfather II-style game with double timeframe, Enric Alvarez is a great writter he can pull it off very good, you know, playing both a medieval adventure and the DCW... at the same time!  :o

Actually, seems the developers have kept a 'jittery cam' function on or something.
I'm at full health, standing still, in one of the zones and the camera is jittering all over the place.  It's subtle but it feels as if there's some kind of old man following me around with a camera. xD

Playing the early levels right now. Loving it so far, combat is very fluid and fun. But these QTE's are annoying already. I can never seem to time them right.

I kinda disagree. I think this feels very much like Castlevania. Yeah, it's not your old style Castlevania- but if I wanted that I go play the older games. This being 3D, a new story and it's awesome locations (I have the stradegy guide so I peeked :P) it totally feels like a new generation of Castlevania with little hints of the old. And running around with Gabriel reminds me of running around as Simon in CV2 3D style! I can't wait to reach the Castle later!

I don't get it. I don't agree that if you want classic touches you have to play the "older games." I haven't played this game yet--I'll get it eventually, maybe even sooner rather than later--but I don't understand why it couldn't have been a "reboot" with more familiar elements right alongside all of the new stuff. I think they could have made the fans feel much more welcome right out of the gate while not alienating newcomers whatsoever.

Exactly, the camera isn't as stable as it should be. But it's passable, there's a lot worse examples out there.

I think the camera is OK, you just may need to move to the center of the area and let the enemies come back into frame from time to time. A minor thing...and it actually helps because then you can then get a little distance and setup your next attack/defense combo.

The camera is alright, its far from perfect.

I have gotten to the end of chapter one so far. The game is... meh  :(

I absolutely despise the QTEs. They slow the game down and get in the way of what is generally otherwise fun. But they are everywhere! What happened to the promise that there would be no QTEs?
