The Mask is an incredible movie, but Cox said "they played a role in earlier games." We whip Dracula's face, not a "mask" on his face O_o Dracula never put on a mask to appear more regal so wtf was he talkin about

unless he was referring to this

still makes it a random statement to make even if he did see some artwork that may suggest he wears a mask. Only other thing I can think of is Carmilla

this is great

Yeah I don't know where that mask comes in. I always thought dracs head just flys off, that picture crisis has posted is the only time I've seen drac with a mask. Carmilla was the only mask thing in any classic cv games
What a horrible night to have a curse!

Well your idea for including Zobek has already been noted....who did you think that "mysterious elder member of the Order" was? ;)

Actually I originally thought up this story purely as a means of explaining future Belmonts and their relation to Drac, but originally "Adrian" was named Leon [yea, I did the name drop thing  ;D].  And originally I had Leon dying during his fight with Drac instead of being turned. I just fudged it up a bit here to work a new angle for Alucard's introduction....just for fun.  Seemed like it'd make for an interesting twist (regardless of how you want to have the mechanism for Drac turning him work). Interestingly enough, though, I had thought of an alternate version of events in which Leon became known as Joachim instead of Alucard....which seems to suggest that you and I may be operating on the same wavelength here. 8)

I liked the idea of Drac using the cross just ONE more time, as it gave a good explanation for how he discarded it for future Belmonts to be able to use...without having to resort to DEM.  He only needed to grasp it for a second to hurl it across the room.  It also served as a good kicking off part for the Belmont's legacy.....it's second notable member giving his life to put an end to a powerful vampire lord. But meh, it's not a big sticking point for me.  I was more interested in how future Belmonts would come to pass, which is why I drummed up this story in the first place.  The rest of the details are just gravy.  I like the idea of him fighting Zobek/Death...maybe before encountering Drac.  I'm just a little torn on whether he should be successful in his fight against Drac (like in your version) or die during the struggle (as I had it).  I guess it comes down to whether or not this little story is presented purely as backstory (in which case, I like my version better), or if it were presented as a playable episode within the series (in which case, your version works better).
hey... I thought of something. What if Zobek himself were to be the one to give the Combat cross to Gabriel's successor? The new Belmont?

I still have trouble seeing why Zobek would want to help the guy, or give him any info regarding gabriel.
Laura and Gabriel arrive in the deepest cave of the castle and... they find IGA.

Dracula sorta looks like he's wearing a mask in CV2. But then again he just looks like a beefier version of Death in that one, so who knows.

There was also artwork for CV4 where he looked really young and blond. Considering his skull-face 2nd form, maybe he was masked then too...?

Yeah that was a mask.
Still doesn't seem all that important. Also the fact that it was only one mask. More like a hohoho, I'm wearing a mask to hide how MONSTROUS I am anyway.

Well, remember that...at this point in the story...Gabe and Zobek wouldn't exactly be on speaking terms just yet.  This would be only a few years ( a decade or two at the most) subsequent to the events of LoS. They'd still consider one another to be an enemy (well, Gabe would consider Zobek one for sure).  Introducing Gabe to his long lost brother in his current state is just the kind of shady thing Zobek would be likely to do...whether it's to further drive Gabe from his humanity, or to see if a blood relative of his would be powerful enough to contend with him.  Knowing Zobek, there could be a dozen reasons for him to do something like this.  He's a cold, calculating son of a bitch.

Resurrection was supposed to be out this month.

lol

I sold my copy last night and got Vanquish, sorry Konami but you're taking too long. Reverie hasn't even hit XBLA yet.

You sold your copy of the main game because the DLC was a little late?

Lost interest actually, but the DLC was a factor yea. It's a fun game but I had no interest in playing through it again after I beat it.

That game is the shit.

LoS ending/epilogue shoulda coulda been like Batman Begins:

Gabriel defeats the Lords & Satan, ends the curse and establishes the Belmont name as holy warriors/vampire hunters

A member of the church or Brotherhood comes to Gabriel with info regarding a menacing vampire that's rising to power in Transylvania.

The member presents Gabriel with the vampire's "calling card," an image with the seal of the Order of the Dragon*

Gabriel says "..I'll look into it." and proceeds to swing across a cavern into the night

EPIC

*i know the Order of the Dragon wasn't founded until 3 centuries later but who the f cares, it's a video game

church member: "I never said thank you."

Gabe: "...and you'll never have to."

*then he swings into the night

I couldn't resist.
