That, or it forces Gandolfi to reclaim it and make it into the more traditional Vampire Killer whip.

I totally forgot about him. I thought he was going to appear in the DLC, because he was kind off teased in one of those scrolls that you can find. Weird that he didn't.

Yeah, they said he was 'near' in the necromancer's domain. Then they just sort of forgot about that plot point all together. NOTHING NEW FOR THE LOS SCRIPT.

And yeah, I too was irked to notice, not even Gabriel's eye color changed on his model. He didn't look at all any noticeably different.

I cleared it long ago on its hardest setting, but I just popped in LOS the other night to play a few levels and see if I could get some extra fun out of its gameplay and atmosphere...and you know what? I found that rather than growing on me, the game has soured on me. I never outright loved it, but as I played it after walking away from it for a while, I just felt an indifference to it. There's a reason I didn't get the DLC and this reinforced that. I realized how un-Castlevania it is in its usage of practically on-rails "platforming," and how repetitive the combo-based enemy scenarios are, battling in what largely amount to glorified LoI arenas. The game isn't bad, but its level design doesn't inspire a Castlevania pick up and play/replay value. It's just hard to explain...this is a bit of an exaggeration, but a lot of the levels feel like re-skins, and you're doing the same things over and over again, and those things, as designed, are not very appealing in the long run.

Oh, disregarding the pre-programmed shimmy-jumping, it's sad how on-rails the swinging is, too. I tried to extend my jump and delay hitting the next grappling point in one of the waterfall levels, and it resulted in me dipping my toes into a no-touch invisible wall that resulted in that "falling animation," even though I clearly had enough time to attach to the next point and I believe I had begun to do so visually. Good effort, but sorry, I really need an alternative vision of Castlevania from this alternative vision. (And I could care less about this left-field Forgotten One plot that, while visually nice, looks like it came out of Middle Earth. This story is not compelling to me). Give me something more open, minimalist, and moody like the N64 games.

I know right? I'm even considering destroying my CV collection piece by piece & videotaping it in protest of Konami's shenanigans  >:(

Nah, don't do that. Just tie some memorabilia to a chair and film one of those videotapes like Al Qaeda did with some hostages, complete with a flag sporting the old Konami logo as the backdrop.

Well now that the game is done and we saw the origin of this Dracula.  All that's left to do now is wait for the sequel.  We already have an idea of where the series is going eventually (Gabula and Zobek vs. Satan), but that doesn't mean that the immediate sequel will be that game.  From my perspective, I can see this storyline going in the following ways:
  • Gabula attacks the Brotherhood of Light and wipes it out
  • Gabula reeks havoc and a warrior goes after him
  • We go to where the future cutscene leaves us and continues from there
I'm willing to bet that the first two items in my list happen in the next game.  Gabula will attempt to wipe out the brotherhood, but there will be a survivor who will go after him.
Behold my power and tremble

Should've taken a page from Bionic Commando '09's playbook, if anything. It's not like they showed restraint in, ah, being influenced by other games.

HECK, YES!!! I played Bionic Commando '09 on PS3 prior to LOS, and was blown away by it. The textures and openness of the cave level really brought to mind how crazy a next-gen, open, true platforming/swinging Castlevania could be. Despite its flaws, BC'09 is one of the most ambitious yet mindfully contained 3D platforming games I've played in the last 10 years. Highly underrated and overlooked. I consider it one of the few truly next-gen games of this generation.

Agreed. Also, I'd like to see Zobek actually turn into Death and a return of the Belmont-Dracula feud.

  • Gabula attacks the Brotherhood of Light and wipes it out

I think this is a given. What I'm wondering is if they will recognize him, or if he'll continue to be known as some kind of valiant hero by those few of the Brotherhood who remain after the slaughter. Perhaps he'll transform into his new "true form" so to speak, as all the other LoS were able to, and thus be unrecognizable. Or maybe he'll wear the devilmask, using it to disguise himself.

It's also possible that he might use the devilmask to disguise himself to the point that he continue to walk among the Brotherhood as a wolf in sheeps clothing, taking them down from within.

If it's a slaughter though, it'd be a really cool way to begin the second game, as a quasi prologue flashback.

  • Gabula reeks havoc and a warrior goes after him
[/color]

I'm hoping for something like this but with a twist. The sequel to LoS, if taking place only a few hundred years later, could have two warriors to play as. A descendant of a Brotherhood Knight, trained to hunt supernatural evil by his father (and his father before him, ect...), taking the name of Belmont in honor of the Slayer of the LoS. Perhaps he'll be weilding a modified version of the Vampire Killer, made from it's former shards by Gandalfi (he appears to be able to travel into evil places).

Warrior two could be Alucard, probably named Adrian. Would allow for more variety in gameplay. I suspect either way the LoS sequel will be heavily inspired by SotN.

  • We go to where the future cutscene leaves us and continues from there

Prologue could still involve Gabula slaughtering the Brotherhood, and a Brotherhood descendant could easily still be a part of the action and story. So even if the game jumps right this point as the brunt of when the story takes place, it could still be awesome.

Those Brotherhood knights sure liked dying everywhere. I liked how they even died in places that should be inaccessible.
Crafty little corpses, they are.

They should make for great sneaky enemies.

Is there really anyone left in the Brotherhood of Light?  What's the official body count?
