Also I dont think the novel is "cannon" so until IGA releases an updated version of the timeline, even though the novel is official, I dont think its events should be recognized as such.

Why not? IGA supervised the novel.

Well is Lang a Belmont? I thought only Belmont's could wield the Vampire Killer to its full extent. Nathan used an entire different whip that was based off of Vampire Killer because he wasn't a Belmont.

I believe this Curtis guy also has a different whip, mentioned to be much weaker then the Vampire Killer.

I dont think he actually wields the vampire killer he just wields the Holy Whip (like the flame whip, ice whip etc)

And has yet to be mentioned or released here in America. I dont think they are counting novels and such as cannon, we aren't even 100% sure the radio drama is officially apart of the main story. Personally I like the idea of both being cannon  as they both seem to have interesting stories, but until konami or IGA releases a newer timeline then I can't be convinced that they are.

He never will. He regrets releasing the first one, which I find hilarious because it's that same canon that everyone holds so dear.
See? Even IGA doesn't think "being canon" is all that important.

Curious, when did he mentioned he regretted it?

I think he meant that he screwed up not that he didn't like the idea of a timeline.

WN: I’ve wanted to ask this for a while: what do you think, in the whole history of Castlevania, was the worst decision anybody ever made about the series?

KI: Probably when we put out the timeline. Because since Dracula only appears every 100 years, we made the whole timeline and ran out of places to put in another game. I made the timeline, but I shouldn’t have actually released it, because now it’s all official. That was a bad decision.

Hey Negumo here is an interesting theory about the novel. Julius would've left to battle Dracula around 19 or 20. Now that would mean he was born in the 1980 and given he was raised in those eras it is possible for him to have been with a woman. Given Julius comes off quite proud of his heritage he would know that he must pass down the Belmont name. So lets say he ended up with a woman with the last name Lang (which is kind of funny being that in the first Vampire Hunter D novel the female last name is also Lang and she weilds a whip.) Now afterwards Julius would've lost his memory and probably didn't return which, if she was with child and produced an offspring the child would most likely take his mother's last name of Lang. Once Julius returns 30 years later it would be probable that child also went on to have a child of his own around the age of 20 not knowing his father and oblvious to the fact he was a Belmont. Now assuming this happened that would place the child's (Curtis) age around 14-16 which would probably be the age he would have to start training.

Now I doubt this is the case and this theory probably has a million plot holes but I figured it would be a nice theory to share.

Here is a time line.

1980 Julius is born
1999 Julius participates in Dracula's defeat.
2000 Son of Julius is born
2022 Curtis is born
2035 Julius returns to the Castle and reclaims the vampire killer as well as his memories.
2036 Julius assists Soma
2037 Julius begins to train Curtis Lang.

Well, I think your theory can work Lumas, though Julius could have a child at pretty much any time between 1999 -2035 despite his amnesia. I do hope that the Belmont Clan will not die out with him, that would be kind off sad.

Personally that would kill the series for me if the Belmonts did get killed off.

And yeah he could have that whole wolverine "I'm drinking to remember" thing going for him....I guess chicks find that hot.

lol
